The love of beer has landed two Plumtree men in prison after they stole a pistol from a parked car.
Bongani Khumalo (31) and Nqobizitha Mabhena were dragged to Plumtree magistrates courts yesterday.
They pleaded guilty to the charge and were slapped with a year in jail by Magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
They told the court that they stole the gun because they wanted to sell it and raise money for beer.
Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa told the court that on September 24 the complainant Mpakathi Ncube left his Isuzu vehicle registration number ADL 5117 parked at Patse Business Centre.
The duo hatched a plan to open the car and steal the licensed CZ pistol.
After stealing it they were looking for buyers and a police report was filed.
The police acted swiftly and arrested the duo.
