Matobo RDC Seeks US$585K Loan for Lodge Construction, Tractor Loader and Vehicles

MATOBO - The Matobo Rural District Council (RDC) has applied to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works for borrowing powers amounting to US$585,000 to fund key development projects.  

According to a public notice issued by the council, the funds will be allocated as follows:  

- US$405,000 - Construction of accommodation and lodge facilities  
- US$80,000 - Procurement of a tractor loader backhoe  
- US$100,000 - Procurement of two service vehicles  

The council stated that project details are available for public inspection at its offices between Monday and Friday this week.  

It further advised that any objections to the borrowing application should be submitted in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, Elvis Sibanda, within 21 days.  

The developments come as Matobo prepares to host the 2026 Independence Celebrations, with government already deploying equipment and manpower to construct a stadium and other supporting infrastructure for the event.
