A Plumtree woman has been arrested after she allegedly attempted to steal 18 bags of fertilizer meant for the Presidential Inputs Scheme.
Selinah Mpofu (31) appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on Wednesday and was granted US$50 bail.
According to court papers, on 17 December last year, Ministry of Agriculture extension officers were distributing fertiliser at New Line Village in Brunaperg when Mpofu allegedly connived with an accomplice, Pardon Chikowe - who is still at large - to steal the inputs.
Chikowe reportedly arrived driving a Nissan truck to load the fertilizer, but an alert villager informed the police. Officers arrived at the scene, prompting Chikowe to flee.
Sheila Nyathi prosecuted.
