In a spine-chilling incident that has left tongues wagging in Hwange, a woman from Silenge area reportedly became mentally unstable after a 'mysterious' from stuck on her breast for a day.
The woman, Sheilla Nyoni, reportedly complained that the frog, which jumped onto her breast, was causing her pain as it was 'breast feeding' continuously.
The family failed to remove the frog and Nyoni was ferried to a prophet who removed it after prayers and sprinkled it with course salt. Unfortunately, it was the beginning of the worst for Nyoni because when the prophet had destroyed the frog, she reportedly became mentally unstable.
Nyoni's daughter, Sharon Shoko, revealed that they were still in a dilemma as to what happened to their mother and appealed for assistance.
"Last Monday, mother was busy cultivating her flowers when I heard her screaming for help. I then rushed to see what had happened and found her trying to take off her blouse saying a frog had jumped onto her breast. I helped her undress and we tried to remove the small frog but it never moved. I alerted neighbours, but all their efforts proved futile," said Shoko.
She added that they hoped that after a short time it would fall off and they assumed it was being frightened by people therefore they left her mother in a room alone. The trick did not yield intended results as the frog seemed to be enjoying the warm body temperature.
"After some hours, my mother started complaining of feeling weak and being in pain saying the frog was breast feeding too much. When we checked, we realised that there were some drops of milk showing that indeed the frog was up to no good and we did not understand where the milk was coming from," she said.
On the following day, the family decided to take the woman to a prophet to assist in removing the 'mysterious' frog.
"It was not an easy task, the man of God prayed for sometime and when we were about to lose hope, the prophet sprinkled some salt on the frog and it fell down. Amazingly, when it was down, it was just a dry frog as if it died years ago. The prophet then burnt it but it disappeared and the fire just went out. While we were still trying to come to terms with the strange development, my mother started acting weird saying things that we could not understand and shouting at everyone," added Shoko.
She revealed that when they got home, her mother was damaging property and they tied her feet and hands with ropes as she had become violent.
"We ferried her to hospital and she was referred to Ingutsheni Hospital in Bulawayo where she is admitted at the moment," she said.
