The government says it is launching investigations into the recent helicopter crash that occurred in Gwanda saying the accident is a threat to national security.
The Minister of State for Matabeleland South province, Abednigo Ncube cited security concerns following the crash at Dobbiebun Ranch in Gwanda South and a foiled attempt to conceal the accident by the pilot, South African-based businessman, Esrifriskki Lutzkie.
He said the fact that Mr Lutzkie flew in and out of the country without being detected by aviation authorities raises security concerns.
Ncube also expressed fear that Mr Lutzkie and his business partner, Lourens Botha who runs Dobbiebun Ranch were smuggling gold out of the country.
Officer Commanding Crime in Matabeleland South province, Chief Superintendent Hosiah Mukombero said the wreckage was discovered in a six metre trench.
The accident that occurred on the 5th of this month only came to light two weeks later.
