A Family from Lalapanzi in the Midlands province is living in fear following the death of two family members after they had entered a restricted room. The tragedy which has left tongues wagging in Lalapanzi occurred last year in January and in August. Mesias Andrew who now lives alone in the house said his family has never experienced peace after moving into the house.

"Since our family started staying in this house we have never had peace. Strange things are happening, and strange sounds are heard during the night", said Andrew.

"It all started after the passing on of our grandmother Gogo Nzero. From there her young brother Paso Beans wanted us out of the house but we refused as we had nowhere to go. He started threatening us with unspecified action if we continued to stay in the house," he said.

"From there a dispute between him and his sister Enet Beans started. They fought a lot and they were not seeing eye to eye. At one time Sekuru Paso came with some stuff that we suspected to be juju and he placed it in a room and told us that no one should get into that room as it might result in tragedy.

"No one took it seriously and gogo Enet entered the room as she had placed some of her belongings. Soon after that she collapsed and she started complaining of pain on her feet as they started to get swollen. She then died after two days," said Andrew.

It is said Sekuru Paso did not attend his sister's burial. He then showed up after about three months at night with a prophetess.
They went straight into the "restricted" room. Something happened and the woman miraculously collapsed so they had to call another prophet to help resuscitate her. The same woman did not live for more than three days", he added.

In August, we held a memorial service for gogo Enet, and as required by tradition, we had to group all her belongings so that they could be shared by her relatives. A niece to gogo Enet, Josephine Mangena, had to get into the room so as to bring out some of gogo's belongings that were kept there.

"Soon after she also started having pains on her feet and they got swollen. She only battled with the strange ailment for less than a week and she was gone", said Andrew.
Andrew has since been left to face the strange happenings in the house as his wife has since relocated to Bulawayo.

"My wife has since left for Bulawayo as she said she can no longer tolerate such kind of a life. I cannot relocate as I am employed here and this is the only place to stay that I have. I am appealing to anyone who thinks can help me to come and perform a cleansing ceremony in this house and I am willing to pay whatever amount is required," said Andrew.
