The Brethren in Christ Church has refuted claims that South African Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini is among the dignitaries invited to grace a gospel show billed for the end of this month in Gwanda.

According to media reports, King Zwelithini  who is alleged to have incited the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa is expected in Gwanda to grace the gospel show as well as the wedding of a local couple.

In an interview with the ZBC after emerging from a closed door meeting with members of the Joint Operations Command in Gwanda this Thursday, Brethren in Christ Reverend Sipho Mizha distanced the church from the alleged visit of King Zwelithini to the gospel extravaganza, saying he had not been invited.

The couple whose wedding is also said to be graced by King Zwelithini have denied any link with the Zulu leader.

The church will be hosting some of South Africa's top gospel musicians to celebrate the opening of their 1000 seater church.

The free gospel show that will be held at Phelandaba Stadium on the 28th and 29th of August will see performances by Rebecca Malope, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Tsepo Tsola, Dumi Mkostat, Lusanda Spiritual Group and Busi, among others.
