A MAN from Amazon village in Filabusi who stole a cellphone from a shop attendant and went to hide in a toilet while trying to remove a SIM card from it has been fined $200 by the Filabusi magistrate Mzingaye Moyo.
The man Jabulani Msipa (24) pleaded guilty to theft charge and was convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of $200 or spend two months in jail.
The court heard that on November 17 Msipa went to Savemore Supernmarket in Filabusi at 3pm where he bought 200mls of Chateu and asked the shop attendant Sibongile Tshuma to give him 750mls instead of smaller bottle.
While she was looking for the size Mspia took advantage of that and stole her mobile phone worth $120. He was later given the beer bottle he wanted and went away. Tshuma discovered that her mobile phone had been stolen and alerted other workmates who started hunting for Msipa and they found him hiding in a toilet trying to remove the SIM card.
They took him to the police leading to his arrest. The cellphone was recovered.
