Bulawayo giants, Highlanders Football Club has taken action to protect their commercial value by registering 10 trademarks and has given all those who have been reproducing regalia with the club logo a one month ultimatum to regularise their operations.

The registered trademarks include Bossolona, Tshilamoya, Cry Mantengwane, Amahlolanyama, Ezikamagebhula, Ngenkani, Highlanders FC, the club shield with the 1926 inscription, Siyinqaba and Bosso.

Highlanders Chief Executive Officer Ndumiso Gumede stressed that those interested in continuing to producing regalia with any of these registered trademarks must first seek clearance from the club.

The veteran football administrator also revealed that the refurbishing of the club house has gained momentum with the acquisition of 2 television sets and the setting up of a fan park to broadcast various matches.

The gesture was courtesy of the club's long time benefactor Retired Colonel Mhlophe and current vice chairman, Modern Ngwenya.

Bosso will be inactive this weekend since they will be missing four key players who are on national duty.

Two are with the Cosafa squad in Namibia while the other two are with the Under 20 in Cameroon.

Tshilamoya, as Highlanders is also affectionately known, marks its 90th anniversary this year and celebrations to commemorate this milestone have been lined up.
