Thousands of expectant Zimbabweans from different churches are flocking to South Africa for Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's Higher Life Conference (HLC)in Johannesburg starting today.

Visitors to grace the neighbouring southern African country are anticipating miracles to happen at the three-day event.

In a televised broadcast on Loveworld channel, Pastor Chris said the programme is expected to expand, reveal and completely renew the attendees' understanding of God and the Christian life.

"It's God's time for you. I will be teaching, ministering to the sick and praying for God's blessing on your life as He has sent me," Pastor Chris said, inviting everyone to attend.

Christ Embassy Zimbabwe has hired 18 buses which left for the southern African country on Wednesday. The zonal pastor for Zimbabwe, Pastor Ruth could not hide her excitement in a telephone interview yesterday.

"We hired countrywide a total of 18 buses which left for South Africa yesterday (Wednesday)," she said from Johannesburg.

"Some people are flying and many others are driving to become a part of this miraculous event. Everyone is full of excitement here."

South African Valentine Khumalo, a parishioner, said: "Everyone is excited  here. There are banners, posters of Pastor Chris everywhere. I have never seen so many people this excited especially the youth. We are expecting miracles from the man of God. He is no stranger here in South Africa."

Reports indicate that event organisers in South Africa led by regional pastor Ose Oyakhilome have provided free trains and 80-seater buses to shuttle people to and from the venue in Soweto.

Pick-up points include the popular Park Station in Johannesburg and places as far flung as Pretoria.

High-flying Zimbabwean gospel prodigy Blessing Manyangadze is also in South Africa to join celebrated African gospel musicians taking part in the HLC.

The Ndichamutambira hit-maker joins West African and South African music ministers led by multiple award-winning Sinach as part of the praise and worship team.

The much publicised three-day programme, which also takes place in Britain, the United States and Canada annually, is scheduled for the FNB Stadium.

An estimated 150 000 people, among them children and terminally ill patients, travelled to the Greenpoint Stadium in Cape Town to attend the annual three-day event last year and many say they received healing.

The National Standard, a Nigerian newspaper has described Pastor Chris as a man who would rather talk about Christ than about himself.

In a few years, his ministry has grown from a campus fellowship of a few hundreds to an international ministry making world-wide impact.

And in nearly every country of the world, the gospel according to Pastor Chris is spreading fast.
