Prominent Nigerian televangelist Prophet Temitope Balogun (TB) Joshua is set to visit Zimbabwe soon, his local protégée, Walter Magaya of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) ministries, has said.
TB Joshua, as he is referred to by his followers, is known for performing breath-taking miracles that include healing and spiritual deliverance.
He is also known for predicting world disasters as well as deaths of prominent people around the world.
PHD spokesperson Oscar Pambuka told The Zimbabwe Mail Monday that Magaya was set to meet TB Joshua, who is his spiritual father, in Lagos, Nigeria, on Wednesday where the decision by the popular preacher to visit the country would be made.
"Yes, we are planning for his visit but we are going to know much after this Wednesday when the man of God, Prophet Magaya, meets with Prophet TB Joshua," Pambuka said.
According to Pambuka, Magaya is in Nigeria where he is being mentored by TB Joshua.
"The Man of God is in Nigeria, probably to get more instructions and he will, by the end of the week, announce the Easter programme," he said.
TB Joshua was meant to come to the country in 2012 at the invitation of MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, but the visit did not materialise as there was talk he would not be allowed into the country.
The maverick preacher is leader and founder of the Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), which runs Christian television station Emmanuel TV, available on satellite and on the Internet via the Streaming Faith broadcast portal.
He is also a notable humanitarian who provides aid to minorities and the underprivileged on national and international scales via the church's ministry. He has been awarded various accolades, notably among them, the National Honour of OFR by the Nigerian government in 2008.
He is also recognised as one of Africa's 50 most influential people.
In 1989, TB Joshua claimed that he fasted and prayed for 40 days and 40 nights before receiving divine anointing and a covenant from God to start his ministry.
Following this, Joshua founded the SCOAN ministry with only a handful of members.
According to the organisation, more than 15 000 members attend its weekly Sunday service visitors and visits from outside Nigeria are accommodated at facilities at the church.
In Zimbabwe, the prophet has assisted a number of top business executives and politicians who have frequented his Nigerian parish in search of divine intervention.
Tsvangirai last year paid a visit to TB Joshua's church after suffering a heavy defeat to rival President Robert Mugabe in the July 31 polls.
A number of senior African politicians and businesspeople have visited the popular Nigerian prophet, including Home Affairs minister Kembo Mohadi, minister of State for Manicaland province Christopher Mushowe, former Zanu PF legislator, now MDC member Tracey Mutinhiri, Zifa president Cuthbert Dube, former South African president Nelson Mandela's ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and Malawian president Joyce Banda.
