ZIPRA Cadres that had an Effect in my Life

31 Dec 2014 at 13:04hrs | Views

To all those that operated under ZIPRA during the war of liberation alive today and those no longer with us your inspiration in my life was massive and life changing. I am proud and honoured to have known many of you and heard how those I did not have the chance to rub shoulders with were a breed above the best in the battlefield.

I had the chance to work with the best fighters some of whom I will mention here under.

You were all, where ever you operated battlefield masters and game changers, brave and accurate in the shots you released, surely those that were in the Rhodesian forces will confirm this.

Alfred Nikita(late) the best ever commander and intelligent extremely good at his job may your soul rest in peace; Ambrose Mutiniri, the commando a brave organised fighter and the best Army Chief of Staff, Dumiso Dabengwa, the cool ruler and stabiliser, intelligent and brave; Dubhu the strict man and best to work with, a field marshal indeed; Daki(Kaririki), ZIPRA's best snipper above most and a good commander; Sigoge(come Sigoge) extra fit and brave a commander worthy the sault; Nyampingiza(HQ), a man of action and the best leader, a complete battlefield changer; Barbarton Zwambira, a committed commander with his life spent in the field a battle master and game changer; Richard Mataure, a smart quick thinker also a battle master; Madliwa his command affected decisions at the highest echelons, a young game changer and battlefield master;Malaba(late), the big man yet quick on his feet; Kenny Ndlovu, a brave commander lost his sight in the field; Annanias Gwenzi, the commando, brave fighter and the best commander ever; Jackonia a man who made things happen, very brave man; Mazinyane(the offside talker), very brave fight and extremely good at his job; Stanley Gagisa, one of the best battlefield commandos and commanders; Gedi(late) a commander worthy commending and fearless(may his soul rest in peace); Mvakanya, the old timer, one of the best fighters ZIPRA ever produced, remember the kids(okijana); Billy Muzamo a brilliant fighter, brave and hard in the field, yet slow talker; Toddy Mpisi, some of the man ZIPRA was proud to have as both commanders and leaders at all levels; George Chavunduka(late) a guy so dedicated, so brave, a gallant fighter indeed, may his soul rest in peace; Rodwell Nyika this list would not miss a brave commander and fighter; Masengo, the pillars of ZIPRA forces and good commander; Caspar Dube ZIPRA's commando, the best fighter and commander; Mandu some of the services would not have existed without the likes of such brave man; Sam Fakazi a true fighter and game changer with a commitment above the best; Grutsha(late), a brave fighter backward never, that's what the old top ter was may your soul rest in peace; Masala a true ZIPRA cadre always there when needed; Mahlenyika(late) the giant, a fighter and battle game changer.

Brigade commanders, Bitwell(late), may your soul rest in peace, Madliwa the best combination in command; the Battalion Commanders, Citizen(late) may his soul rest in peace, Zuba, Jack, Butholezwe, and all your officers and man you played a role that changed a lot in our struggle; Munda your contribution was immense.

To all ZIPRA commandos history will one day reveal what sterner stuff you were real made of, what bravery drove you in those dark exchanges with the enemy then, how you made the enemy accept the cease fire. My page is small to put you all in but what a pride and joy to refer to the best fighters Africa ever saw. To the unit I personally commanded, officers and man I think of you with joy as I watched you in action at what ever level and to those that are late may your souls rest in peace.

This is now a dedication to those who saw independence. I am not anything but it is out of the love of all ZIPRA cadres that this had to be written in remembrance to all.

We will always remember all those that suffered under ZANU-PF government security machinery in all trumped up charges.

All those that were butchered by the CIO, massacred by 5Brigade, mercilessly toured to death by the police, disappeared during "indications" or in their clever language deserted during indications while being taken out by the army intelligence, or killed by army members my heart goes out to you.
To the civilians that were massacred during 5 Brigade genocide and those that died without any form of reporting done on them or records ever kept we remember you all. The Balagwe victims, the mine shafts victims never investigated, the unmarked shallow graves.

To the relatives of all the victims we will not forget. To the children who watched as their parents were either raped or butchered, our hearts bleed with you. To the innocent children who lost their lives, may your souls rest in peace we will always remember. When I look back at when the massacres started a figure of 20000 is surely a joke. Side by side with 5Brigade the police and CIO never stopped waiting for 5Brigade to finish the killings continued at with accelerated speed.

We remember, we will always remember, we will always remember, we always carry that pain that loneliness, that sorrow and that patience that one day even if we cannot be united with our loved ones, justice will come.

I ask that every ZIPRA cadre where ever you are on the 1st January 2015 at 12pm observe a minute of silence in remembrance of all those fallen heroes including those that were massacred after independence soldiers and civilians alike, we remember them all. May this be an annual event until justice comes.
