Zimbabwe's Smart Coup: China and Iran are key suspects

17 Nov 2017 at 18:33hrs | Views
Zimbabwe's smart coup was engineered and conceived by Chinese and Iranian allies of both former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Commander of ZDF, Constantine Chiwenga well before the army seized power from the 93 year old veteran leader Cde R.G. Mugabe. The army boss went to Beijing where he held high profile meetings with Chinese officials from the Ministry of Defense. The Chinese Foreign Ministry insisted that General Chiwenga's visit was just a normal and routine visit. Earlier on, the crocodile personally travelled to Iran where he is alleged to have entered into an arms deal with Iranian arms dealers, it has emerged. However, the Iranian Government denied the allegations.

The feared crocodile has several business interests in that Middle Eastern country. It is alleged that under the Iranian weapons deal, the "crocodile" purchased an assorted calibers of mortars and 107mm rockets designed to attack static targets and used by armies to support infantry units and shells for a 23mm anti-aircraft guns. Despite close and cordial relations between Tehran and Harare, Iran has a free and open arms trade policy. The sale of arms in Iran is strictly on commercial basis. It may be recalled that in 2010, the Gambian Government severed diplomatic ties with Iran after Nigerian security forces intercepted an arms cargo which was destined for Gambian rebels. The Iranian Government has been accused by the international community of funding, providing equipment, weapons, training and giving sanctuary to terrorists. The United States State Department describes Iran as an active state sponsor of terrorism. Former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice elaborated stating "Iran has been the country that has been in many ways a kind of central banker for terrorism. Iran supports shia militias and militant groups that engage in insurgencies or terrorist acts, including the Iraqi shia in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Islamic Jihad (PIJ), the popular front for the liberation in Palestine, Hamas in Gaza and Houtis in Yemen among others. A 2007 UN Security Council resolution prohibited Iran from supplying, selling or transferring directly or indirectly from its territory or by its nationals… any arms or related materials.

The arms deal was calculated at augmenting the military takeover of the country. Currently, the Zimbabwean Treasury authorities are broke and the military is believed to be receiving budgetary support from Mnangagwa's personal funds.

According to high ranking Government insiders, Tehran also agreed to supply Harare with advanced cyber-warfare weapons and technology, as the ruling Zanu-PF party is leaving no stone unturned in the fight against cyber terrorism, cyber crimes and social media platforms such as wassup, telegram, twitter and facebook. The new secret campaign is also said to be targeted at Diplomatic Missions, Non-Governmental Organizations and opposition political parties.

The former Vice President has a considerable number of allies in the ranks and files of Foreign Affairs, CIO and the Military which made it easy for him to seize power from Mugabe with the assistance of Foreign Powers who now share the same view with the generality of Zimbabweans that the 93 year old leader is now a liability to the country.

According to our Zanu PF Politbro sources, since 2007 Tehran, has been involved in massive training programs of Zimbabwe's Intelligence and Military operatives. Further information shows that the then National State Security Minister, Didymus Mutasa was instrumental in establishing the training programs, with assistance from Iranians. Mutasa, before being fired from Government and Zanu-PF, visited Iran in March 2010.

Today President Mugabe was forced by the army to officiate at the Zimbabwe Open University graduation ceremony as international relations public posture. Mugabe has been reduced to a lame duck President with his key strategists from the G40 faction detained in military custody.

Zimbabweans are happy, Police road blocks are now history in Zimbabwe, said one Zimbabwean Nationality interviewed in Harare today. The international community has not been that hostile to the "smart coup".

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veteran's Association Leader, Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa has implored all Zimbabweans to attend a rally to be held at the Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfields, Harare (Saturday) in solidarity with the military which seized control of the country this week.
