No Mr Vice President, we can't be foreigners before we are Mthwakazi

27 Mar 2018 at 08:59hrs | Views
The statement by the Vice President of Zimbabwe Kembo Mohadi at the weekend that Matabeles are Zimbabweans before they are Ndebeles is misplaced, misinformed and misleading and needs immediate rectification.

First we are family, village, district, province then Mthwakazi. For Zimbabwe, well, the truth is we cannot be foreigners before are citizens of Mthwakazi. We are proudly Mthwakazi not Zimbabweans. Matabeleland/Mthwakazi is not Zimbabwe neither Zimbabwe is Matabeleland/Mthwakazi.

If the Vice President of Zimbabwe knew, some of us are humiliated to be called Zimbabweans. Zimbabweanism is imposed on us by the successive governments of Zimbabwe ie Mugabe dictatorship and the current illegal military junta and its Mthwakazi puppets like Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

If the Vice President wants to prove what we are saying, he must go and ask people of Mashonaland if Zimbabwe and Mthwakazi are one thing and that Matabeles are Zimbabweans, then he will get a rude awakening.

If we were Zimbabweans we would not be targeted by Shona supremacist to be killed for no reason. If we were Zimbabweans we would not be discriminated against in the communities, schools, labour market, hospitals, politics and economic development.

Being conscious about tribalism and speaking loud against it does not translate to being a tribalist. Simply put, Matabeles who are speaking out against tribalism and calling for the restoration of the statehood of Matabeleland are not tribalists. They are exercising their rights recognised by the united nations. Article 1 of the United Nations gives people the right to self determination. "All peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development."

God created us as Matabeles and gave us Matabeleland as our territory as Mashonas have Mashonaland as their own. We cannot apologise for being Matabeles and for demanding our right to self determination. We advice Vice President Kembo Mohadi against denying his status to impress his masters in Harare like Enos Nkala, it has its own consequences as Enos Nkala learnt the way.

So the people of Matabeleland who know their rights including the right to self determination cannot be mislead or deceived by the stoogies of the genocidal government of Zimbabwe. Kembo Mohadi and others in the Zimbabwean political projects must be told in their face that they do not represent the people of Matabeleland in a foreign country, Zimbabwe. They represent the narrow interests of their own stomachs and families motivated by their love of high positions, money and strange effort to impress their bosses in Harare.
