The grandmother of all demos against ZEC, A replica of the Chinhoyi Seven Battle

03 Jun 2018 at 13:52hrs | Views
I am on record telling ZEC that the way they are handling the process of 2018 election is likely to spark another 'Chinhoyi Seven Battle' before 2018 elections. I warned ZEC that they should take the responsibility of any commotion that will be caused by their subjective and dictatorial way of handling 2018 elections in Zimbabwe. The day 28 April 1966 will never be forgotten in our history, seven gallant fighters were killed by Smith when they were  fighting for 'one man one vote' , free and fair elections in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). The event sparked the second Chimurenga.

Another chapter in Zimbabwe's history is the military intervention and the mother of the demos of 18 November 2017 that removed the ZANU PF (manufactured) dictator R.G Mugabe from power. It is so sad that 37 years after independence, Zimbabweans are still fighting for 'one man one vote', free and fair elections. I am confident that the proposed (constitutional) backed resistance against ZEC on 5th of June 2018  shall be remembered as the 'grandmother of all demos' in the history of Zimbabwe.

During the military and civilian demo of 18 November 2017, while in exile, ED told R.G. Mugabe to respect the will of the people and that 'the voice of the people is the voice of God'. I want to repeat the same message to ZEC, they should listen to the will of the people, the voice of people is the voice of God. ZEC should come to the reality that Zimbabweans are now too clever  than them (and Mugabe tricks of 37 years) and they should also accept the reality that Mugabe's dictatorship is now history and therefore, should tune to the democratic principles of today.

I liked what Tendai Biti said on behalf of MDC-alliance on 01 June 2018, 'we are not boycotting elections but there will be no elections without reforms'. Biti convinced me that ZEC is not ready for this coming elections; Where is the voter's roll?. Why was the voter's roll not externally audited? Why is ZEC adding 1500 polling stations (against the electoral laws)?  Why is ZEC employing security personal (with undoubted ZANU PF DNA) who used to rig elections for Mugabe? Why is ZEC secretive about the company printing ballots? Why is ZEC not willing to involve stakeholders? Why should people register while others are verifying their names on the voter's roll? Why is ZEC finding it holy to violet electoral laws?. Why is ZEC not complaining (silent) about the alleged deployment of 5000 soldiers in villages?

The above questions exposed ZEC and I support the grandmother of all demos called by MDC alliance. The spirit of the Chinhoyi Seven battle should come down to the grandchildren of Mbuya Nehanda Na Sekuru Kaguvi/Lobengula/Mzlikazi. Biti put it correctly, Zimbabweans are protected by their constitution and therefore no one can stop them from demonstrations. Stopping constitutional backed demonstrations is like forcing people not to breathe oxygen.    People should keep moving by all (constitutional) means.

The proposed grandmother of all demos is about unemployment, economy, food on the table, good education, good health, people's pensions, good governance, the future generations to come and not ZANU PF's dictatorship tendencies. Zimbabweans suffered for so long under the same ruling party and time has come for free and fair elections. ZANU PF should admit that they gave birth to Mugabe and will remain their baby (if not a gobbling). The difference between ZANU PF/ED and Mugabe is just like the difference between Judah and Judas.

I told you in my previous piece that ZEC has failed to lead by example, I told you that ZEC cannot provide free and fair elections on the table. Why are they secretive with the company printing ballots. I sometimes wish if I was not a Zimbabwean. ZEC has failed us and generations to come, Rita Makarau destroyed the spirit of Chinhoyi Seven fighters and Judge Chigumba should learn from history, Zimbabweans need free, fair and transparent elections.

I want to warn ZEC that if they cannot take action soon, Zimbabwe may never be Zimbabwe again. People want free and fair election process, I want to congratulate any winner soon after elections (freely).

Conclusion
There is a Nigerian dictum that goes, 'if you want to kill all women in this world in one day, just mix the poison with lipstick cosmetic'. I salute MDC - Alliance's constitutional move, they have managed to poison the lipstick cosmetic of ZEC, 'no to boycotting of elections but no elections without reforms'. I want to advice Chamisa, Biti and Ncube not to give up, they should get encouragement and solace from Jesus Christ. The reward for serving the masses can even be enjoyed in heaven.  The Chinhoyi Seven fighters never saw the new Zimbabwe, if they are to come back today they will die instantly by shock.
