Bulawayo Bomb Blast

It was in a rally in Gutu early 1981, when Mugabe was almost assassinated. Shiri and Rugeje were there attending that rally. The blame was squarely put on ZPRA/ ZAPU and Nkomo. There was chaos on that day, Mugabe was missed only due to a ZANLA poor marksmanship or by arrangement, but more of a sniper's failure. By the way Dambudzo(Mnangagwa) was also present together with high ranking ZANU-PF officials. This assassination attempt was to be part of the fore runner of the Matabeleland and Midlands genocide. The preparation was highly in progress for the annihilation exercise of ZANU-PF's "enemies" so this assassination attempt was of importance.

It is however sad that the Bulawayo exercise saw some people sustain injuries. I call this an exercise as the explosive device is highly suspicious as that used by the army during training exercises to simulate real live operations.

Analysing the events just before the blast and immediately after, one is left with a lot of questions. At the same time one is left wondering whether this device was not an army training bomb. It's effectiveness is highly questionable. Further as one follows the two soldiers' actions particularly the one who suddenly indicates with his hand as if wanting people to move off quickly, questions flood the mind. He has a strange body language transferring it to his hands. He seems to want people to move quickly as though he realised that they were loosing time the blast would catch people clustered together hence inflicting injuries not budgeted for and it did, the clock timing had run faster than speech.

To any one looking at the events and seeing the blast, the obvious conclusion is that the blast was caused by an army training bomb. Who could have planted the bomb and when, if flung as suggested how did the person break through that kind of security. Was there any firing at the attacker as the soldiers were there. With so many questions, the big one of them all is who is ZANU-PF preparing to liquidate and when, if arresting and detention who is it?

ZANU-PF does not just do anything without a pointer and intention. This is a big thing similar to early 1980s preparations for genocide in the two regions of Matabeleland and the Midlands. Before they take action, convincing evidence is carefully laid down, that which will catch their opponent by surprise convincing the world and their faithful followers that indeed their opponent was and is on the wrong and deserves punishment.

Matabeleland is a region still feeling the effects of the genocide and such incidents cause so much upset, fear and despondence. The 1980s killings are soon rekindled. Is it now a ploy to go for those of Mthwakazi Party, or ZAPU under Dumiso Dabengwa which has unfortunately united with Chamisa's Alliance grouping or is it an excuse to deploy security personnel particularly soldiers in the region? Yet the clear and obvious thing is that some people will pay for this, innocent or guilty the difference is the same, ZANU-PF is on the move.

It is at this stage that the region has to come together as one and stop supporting all these leaders coming from other regions. It is these incidences that have to see the region forming a Regional Party that has no traits of tribalism, but that which brings people together to see the devolution coming to effect and refusing to be bullied by other regional leaders who come in to play their war games or unleash death as they see fit.

Matabeleland unite, there are leaders born by the region who are totally clean of tribalism, secessionist ideology, corruption and most a thirsty for unwarranted killings. These leaders can turn the region around from the marginalised, fear stricken to that of prosperity. Once more people of Matabeleland UNITE.
