The independent candidate for ward 10 in Entumbane Bulawayo Edmonic Max Mkandla has revealed a host of plans which he intend to do for the ward among them that he will make young people a priority and focus on their education, career and housing needs when he is elected into office.
He said while the current economic conditions have undoubtedly put pressure on budgets, ratepayers in ward 10 have every right to expect high quality public services across the ward.
"I will speak up for the needs of pensioners to ensure dignity for all our parents and grandparents, they have worked hard to build our city its time the city take care of them.. Safe streets and green spaces within communities, tower light maintenance will be high on my priorities list. Public spaces like parks and recreations and centres will be established and maintained so our children enjoy and lead healthy active lives," he said.
He said he will work hard to deliver sustainable, incidence based and economically credible community development initiatives.
"Ward work opportunities will be shared transparently and not on political party affiliation. Everybody in ward 10 derives fair and equal opportunities. I will actively participate in council meetings and projects, pushing local economic development agenda for our ward. When a vote is cast it is a vote for the future, a vote of hope, a vote of ambition. I urge voters to think very carefully, parties are you really going to change anything for the better?" he said.
"Should we not be brave? Should we not seek something better and vote for your independent for your servant."
He asked ratepayers and residents to allow him to work for them as he does not report to any political party but would report direct to them. He said he will make sure that youths are employed in the education, police, defence, health and prison services.
He also said he will ensue that local clinics are open 24 hours and his office will be local to serve them at their time.
"The main responsibilities of Councillors is to promote and protect the social and economic welfare of their wards. The ward the councilor's constituency an outbreak of a decease or a shortage of food or water in a ward should cause a great deal of concern to the relevant Councillor. An officiant Councillor always finds out the cause of any death in his or her ward where and when possible a good Councillor help to prevent such deaths as those by accidentally caused by carbon monoxide," he said.
"Councillor deals with people's problems at grassroots level that is why Councillor should attend every funeral every wedding and every social cultural occasion in his or her ward. That is where he or she can get an information as a popular leader in the community and by visiting all communities."
