Opposition still alive in Zimbabwe

29 Jan 2021 at 08:38hrs | Views
The man made frictions within the opposition circles are too far from killing the opposition in Zimbabwe. The ructions have been badly misinterpreted to mean demise of the opposition in the Southern African country.

In my personal view, the haggling parties can still work together in their fight against the  Zanu pf regime which we strongly believe  have outlived its mandate and should ship out after failing to shape up.
To me the fight is about the unfinished business in the MDCT a partner  of the Mdc Alliance and I have a strong personal feeling that we need each other more than individuals in this fight to dislodge the regime which is the source of our wailing day and night.

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa should know that we want him to go for Zimbabwe to breath a new lease of life which has been evading  us through suspected rigging  and heavy handedness of our security forces in their quest to maintain grip on state power. We are seeing an evil hand in the harassment, torture, arrest and incarceration of some people  opposed to the system or honest non-partisan citizens who are exposing corruption or blocking  government departments in their attempt to trample or strangle opposition controlled local authorities.

I want to be proven wrong here if fellow citizens think otherwise but in the public eye that is how we view the Zanu pf government. We may not say it every day for fear of reprisals  by the state agencies.
I want to believe that Zanu pf is very conscious to the reality that the MDC Alliance and its leader advocate Nelson Chamisa is a thorn in the flesh as evidenced by the daily noise from the top offices. ZANU PF should stop meddling in the MDC  political fights because their entry is viewed as evil.
The recent funeral of Hon Rambanepasi united  President  Chamisa and President Mwonzora and to me again its an exhibition of political maturity on the part of the two leaders and  any attempt to dig oceans between the two may not help our own country and supporters because that is what the enemy wants the supporters and members of the two parties to do.

We must not play into the hands of the enemy,we must remain focused and steadfast instead of forgetting our institutional mandates and tasks at hand that require us to unite and explore strategies of  removing the regime from power through  political, constitutional and democratic processes. I will personally focus on fighting Zanu pf instead of fighting the judiciary, individuals and other political entities outside government.

I always find statements in the media attributed to Hon Job Sikhala  to be pregnant  with sense and worth   digesting. An opposition political party  is a government in waiting that should use all the ammunition at its disposal to unseat a party  in power through "political processes".
When the standoff went to court  my party lost most of the cases because of some reasons known by the courts that passed those judgements.I am not a legal expert and I stand to be correctly guided on the fairness or unfairness of  those judgements. I have read about state capture of institutions, zanu pf interference, lack of evidence etc but at the end of the day it is what came out of the drawing board that will carry the day.We can use both political and legal strategies to wrestle power from those in control.
What is clear is that Zanu pf must go and will obviously go down fighting  and leave us with bruises for fear of revenge for all the crimes committed since 1980.

There is power in working together but it is also important to respect binding constitutions and agreements if we are to guard against future embarrassments. The enemy will continue to capitalise on  misfiring or emerging cracks. It is very important at this juncture to narrow the gap between  President Chamisa and President Mwonzora because any further drift from each other will not serve the purpose. Its not even about using crowds to score goals because at the end of the day we will all lose focus and prolong the Zanu pf stay in power. The road to Canaan  remains narrow, bumpy and thorny. There is no need for the two political parties MDCT and MDC alliance to compete against each other.Selfish interests have to be shelved for purposes of fulfilling the national change agenda

I am a supporter of Manchester united  a championship contender if not the hot favorite in the English Premier League but all will depend on the line up, positioning and repositioning  of the players on the field of play.If the team fails to win matches new players should be brought in to add fire power.
I am still of the strong  opinion that we need to blend young blood with veterans  to boost public confidence. By veterans I mean the founding leadership of the party instead  of hiring  people from other parties who will cross the floor if they lose elections.Zlatan Ibrahimovic at 37 is still commanding respect at AC Milan and still scoring goals in the same way as 24 year old Marcus Rashford at Manchester united

The MDC-Alliance has adequate ammunition and able leadership within its ranks to defeat Zanu pf in a level playing field and the value of coming together as three major parties has to be seen now.Internal frustrations have to be dealt with if the dream of reaching Canaan is to be realized.Seasoned politicians like advocate Chamisa,Professor Welshman Ncube,Tendai Biti,Thabitah Khumalo,David Coltart,Job Sikhala and others have the capacity to help us  cross the Red sea and river Jordan.

This game of donating people to Zanu pf because they have differed with us  is not worth pursuing but I subscribe to the idea of preaching to the prodigal sons instead of wasting time fighting those not in power.I prefer to outsmart them in terms of an election winning strategy instead of hurling abuse and widening the gap.It is not too late to normalize relations for purposes of progress.

Zanu pf in my view is not smart or invincible but it simply fumigates  the opposition house for  the  evil purpose of causing confusion and dizziness in the opposition house knowing very well that there is no trace of cockroaches  inside.

The biggest opposition party in Zimbabwe is the MDC-Alliance and stands a chance to win state presidency in 2023 with or without legislators in parliament today. For me this is a passing phase where the ruling party Zanu pf is taking advantage of small issues in the opposition camp.

The Zanu pf administration is capitalizing on the lifeless Mwonzora , Chamisa tiff which will end soon. We are very much aware of the shape and nature of  the  Zanu pf government that we are dealing with.It will be naïve for anyone to believe that military controlled governments cannot be uprooted through democratic means. The recently appointed secretary for rural mobilization should start work and start cracking those Zanu pf strongholds.

Zimbabwe is still thirsty and hungry for democratic leadership that does not interfere with decisions and operations of key institutions like the section 12 commissions.

Institutions working with or for the regime  to suppress the opposition are damaging the already bruised name of the  country called Zimbabwe. The authorities in Zimbabwe shall continue to hit a brick wall in their attempts to embellish the country's image. Instead of adopting a radical approach to the opposition as a strategy to weaken them  they should adopt an open door policy regardless of the threats posed. Like in American,Zimbabwe must come first and individual interests follow behind.

As the situation stands I am not seeing targeted sanctions being removed, Zimbabwe being readmitted into the commonwealth and investor confidence restored. Zimbabwe deserve better and there is still chance to
The arrest of  Hon Job Sikhala,Fadzai Mahere and Hopewell Chingono is meant to muzzle  those speaking against the regime. The use of state apparatus to advance selfish interests will continue to harm the country. There must be that missing political will to unite the country and involve everybody in the reconstruction or refurbishing process.
