Car hijackers jailed

TWO serial Concession car hijackers were sentenced to an effective five year jail term each by Bindura magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura on Friday.
Moses Nyamhanda Chikohwa (25) and Thomas Taruvinga (32) were jailed after full trial.
Prosecutor Victoria Choga told the court that on January 20 the duo entered Timothy Kushora's homestead in Mazowe and stole two motorcycles.
Taruvinga was spotted riding one of the stolen bike at Gweshe business Centre and upon being confronted he fled leaving the bike.
The duo used the same modus operand to steal A motorcycle at Mufenje farm.
They also stole a silver Honda Fit registration number ADN 9686 and drove to Nyabira.
On April 11 the pair pounced on Hemistone farm,Concession and stole a motorcycle registration book, one 12-volt car battery, front and rear vehicle number plates, vehicle licence and insurance from Knowledge Sixpense's homestead.
On April 13 the thieves went to Japhet Chengeja's residence in Mazowe and stole a blue Honda Fit using duplicate keys the vehicle registration number is AEP5585 and pushed it outside the yard before driving it to Nyabira.
The pair's lucky ran out when police in Nyabira intercepted Chikohwa's brother driving one of the stolen vehicle he implicated Chikohwa and Taruvinga leading to their arrest.
