A global research company conducted a survey in South Africa following the launch of the Tsvangirai-led MDC party's new narrative of EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL. During the exercise, in tandem with the new publicity to attaining state power, the focus was on a typical day in which an ordinary grassroots member meets a member of the highest echelons of power in the party variably called the National Standing Committee and National Management Committee. The focus was more on those who identified themselves as member of the party in South Africa notwithstanding the fact that almost all Zimbabweans in Diaspora sympathize or are generally associated with Dr. Tsvangirai's MDC party.

The key thrust of the survey was premised on the people's views on the hyped EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL concept it's implementation, challenges and the input from the people. The research was conducted in South Africa across a diverse people covering the major social clusters within the migrant community comprising professionals, refugees, adventurers, students, academics among others.

In Gauteng, our research team met Gilbert Chamunorwa a veteran of the struggle who according to his peers is a founding member of the party. Asked for his input, he spoke with the tongue of the learned,  " I so much admire the wisdom of ages in the person of President Tsvangirai. Our struggle wouldn't have gone this mile had it not been for the wits of number 1. The President have defied the so called Mangoma dirty millions and his fellow mercenaries, in the same breadth he defied the evil maneuvers and approaches by the political hawks in Zanu Pf. In essence he could have easily sold the soul of this struggle for a few pieces of silver. We are happy he resisted and in all respects his decisions shall not be guided by material benefits as he appoints his next leadership team – we know there are those queuing to and making machinations to buy their way into power  but we are happy because of EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL."

Speaking with the thundering King Herod-like was Tangai Marufu, a man who has been titled "accused" a number of times in Zimbabwe's skewed judicial galleries. "EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL makes the MDC THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN, ours is a democracy in direct contrast to Zanu PF where Mugabe gathers multitudes to witness him succeed himself and as a token appoint his wife to power. In our context all leaders are elected by the people and it is a true reflection of democracy. In Zanu Pf Mugabe appoints the politburo whilst in our case the provinces forward names and the national council endorses. We cannot discount evil attempts to subvert the will of the people in some instances but we have faith that our secretary general Hon Mwonzora will intercept the same. No doubt the President in his good judgment will not choose an elite few over the will of the people – EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL."

The general sentiment expressed by the people bordered on concerns to further differentiate and propagate a totally different governance culture in direct contrast to Zanu PF. Of major concern is the Mugabe scenario where the Central Committee sings and rubberstamps Mugabe's directives without question or the risk of differing. Many of the people interviewed expressed reservations on national Executive appointments however no one appeared not to believe in the capacity of the national leadership to abide by the will of the people, "Mwonzora is a lawyer and still has a bright career ahead of him and truly he will not go against the people, as history has shown how the court of public opinion settles matters. President Tsvangirai showed the Mangoma –Biti mercenary club that no money will buy the trust and mandate of the people and we have faith that he will never betray our only chance for EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL."

In Cape Town, Vickson Mundia an academic whose area of specialization revolves around issues of socio-economic interventions in marginalized communities welcomed the EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL and expressed full confidence in the leadership of Dr. Tsvangirai. "I have full conviction that the issue shall not be pretence but it shall cascade to all communities and the difference shall be seen from what the Mugabe regime is advocating for. Given an opportunity I would express my heartfelt praise for the great initiate of EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL."

The research team later observed that expatriate community in South Africa have confidence in the national elected leaders of their party. Also of significance is the people's trust and faith in Dr. Tsvangirai's integrity as a man whose judgment cannot be swayed by material lures as evidenced in the failed Mangoma power buyout. Noted in the same vein was the underlying suspicion by the people that there may be some people pushing their person agenda and parading it as agreed position with the people however the grassroots still expressed confidence in the infallible, incorrigible and towering political prowess of Dr. Tsvangirai and his lieutenants to deliver  EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL.
