'Go to hell Jim Kunaka'
16 Oct 2015 at 17:18hrs | Views
Some people are just bent on sending us to hell yazi. There is a fellow called Jimmy Kunaka who was the head of a notorious Harare based group of thugs fighting for ZANU PF calling themselves Chipangano.
This group went on a very violent spree intimidating, beating and killing innocent people on why they did not vote for ZANU PF in 2008. Their violence contributed massively to Morgan Tsvangirai fleeing the country leading to the failure of the rerun of the presidential election. They were back in 2013 more vigilant and more powerful.
Today he hits headlines and says he has hit a Damascus and describes himself as Paul who has just changed from Saul. He says he is now a member of Prophet Makandiwa's Church and is sorry for all he did and must be forgiven and be given a chance to preach peace.
Fine the bible does direct that we forgive whatever number of times but people must never take advantage of the Bible to run away from their ills. Anyway, for the record and for his sake we forgave him the very time he was busy maiming people for he knew not what he was doing.
As for his repentance, unfortunately repentance comes with confession and remorse. The Paul he is referring to did not only say sorry to the people, he opened up confessed and showed remorse and God touched the hearts of the people and they listened to him. If he is serious about his repentance can he start by telling us where all the missing people they abducted are and who of their group killed who, why, where and when even without telling us how?
I said to friends earlier this morning in one platform that this country is full of angry and paining people whose pains can not just be wiped away by a simple "I am sorry I was going through a weak moment of my life". This precedence was set and people now want to use it as a prerogative, it doesn't work like that. Zimbabweans need answers to a lot of questions regarding why they were brutalised and maimed in a supposedly free country.
Where is our freedom if we have the likes of Kunaka denying us our freedom before and after speech or freedom before, during and after association?
If we have more people like Kunaka guy coming up, can they show us that they are remorseful and tell us why people were killed and at whose instruction and method of operation. If we get answers from Chipango it may just be the beginning of a truce and reconciliation process which will give us a lot more answers to the other genocides performed in the country.
I reiterate, we indeed forgave them kudala and even forgive them now but just forgiveness does not answer our outstanding questions. If he indeed is remorseful let him tell us everything and even be prepared to account for his actions before a formal commission and/or be prepared to face prosecution for these actions. The issue of an amnesty will be considered at the discretion of the commission and public opinion.
I can already hear some say throw the first stone if you have not sinned, but lets face issues as they are as a country and agree that political violence and murdering is a terrible evil which must be eliminated from the country. The country is where it is today because elections are not free and fair as people vote in fear and duress imposed by such rogue elements.
We can not stand back and listen to people who go out and kill then come back and say they are sorry. We all know that these politically motivated acts of violence are carefully crafted moves by people who do them deliberately and for a financial reward then they want to come and pretend like political violence is a demon which falls on them against their will.
God will forgive me if I am demanding for the wrong justice for the souls of Zimbabweans that continue to be tormented by people of selfish agendas during their hype and turn good when things have gone sour in their dirty circles.
Some will understand you Mr Kunaka but you will have to do a lot of convincing to get my mercy unfortunately.
