Power and authority in Zimbabwe are indeed STDs

Zimbabwe politics is convoluted.
Members of Zanu-PF have developed a spectacular tradition of trying to outdo each in grovelling to Robert Mugabe and his wives. Yes 'wives' because this didn't start with Ntombizodwa Marufu, they did it with Sally Mugabe as well. They kneel, crawl, sing praises and bootlick. VP Mphoko is the latest to do that.
In the early1990s I attended a rally in Tsholotsho addressed by the late VP Joshua Nkomo. He introduced Sally Mugabe as indlovukazi (the Queen).
People protested loudly and one man angrily answered back that "Akasiyo ndlovukazı lo liwule likaMgabe". He was picked up by the CIO and tortured badly. The media reported the event and described it as an act of drunkenness.
Perhaps Jabulani Sibanda was wrong after all about Grace; power and authority in Zimbabwe are indeed STDs (Sexually Transmitted Duties).
