Unity is what is needed in Zanu-PF

25 Nov 2015 at 13:02hrs | Views
The First Lady Dr Amai Grace Mugabe has set the ball rolling by calling for all ZANU PF members to be united for the betterment of the country in general and the ruling party in particular. The First Lady has emphasised that ZANU PF should stop factional fights and focus more on the implementation of the Zimbabwe Agenda for Socio-Social Economic Transformation (ZIMASSET) so that the economic turnaround is realized.

In all her meet the people rallies in the country as the ZANU PF Secretary for Women's League, the First Lady has made it clear that the implementation of ZIMASSET should be prioritised so that the economy is revived. She has further emphasized that once the implementation of ZIMASSET is at full swing, the 2013 ZANU PF campaign message of job creation and economic prosperity would be realized and the revolutionary party would be applauded by every electorate. Dr Amai has also denounced people who are always eager to destroy the party through factional fights, adding that factional fights were counterproductive and would not be tolerated within the revolutionary party.

So, people should take the First Lady's advice seriously and make sure that they work for the development of the country. It is important for the revolutionary party to be united and focus more on the development of the country through the revival of the economy so that the ZIMASSET program is fully operational. While it is difficult to separate economics from politics, it would also be unfair for the ruling party to concentrate more on the political sphere ignoring the turnaround of the economic situation of the country.

It is proper for ZANU PF members and supporters to work together and promote unity of purpose as a way of politically neutralising the country's detractors. Factional wars should not be entertained as they are counterproductive. People should heed what the First Lady has said. Throughout her addresses in her meet the people rallies, starting in Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, and then Harare as well as in Midlands and Mashonaland East, Dr Amai Grace Mugabe called for the people to be united and to stop factional fights as they can destroy the party from within. She said that unity in the party is what is needed and people should work for that unity to be maintained.

In Mashonaland East the First Lady emphasised that the party should be wary of those being given dirty money by the Mujuru cabal which is working futilely towards the demise of the revolutionary party. She told the gathering there over the weekend that some youths aged around fifteen years were being targeted by the Mujuru cabal so that they would vote for that party in the coming harmonized 2018 elections. She criticized those within ZANU PF who give Mujuru fertile ground to penetrate the revolutionary party saying that it is wrong for them to do.

As such the ZANU PF members and supporters should take the First Lady's advice seriously and make sure that the party is united in order to get rid of such manoeuvres by the Mujuru cabal and their ilk. Once the members of the ruling party become united, detractors will find it difficult to penetrate the structures of the ruling party as a way of destabilising it.

The First Lady has also called for the members and supporters of the ruling party to reconcile with each other and avoid internal fights. She has pointed out that those who have wronged the party can be forgiven if they realise their mistakes and then ask for forgiveness. The First Lady has stated that the party reign supreme as no individual is bigger than the party. As such, it behoves every member to ensure that the party and country's interests are jealously guarded.

The unity which the First Lady is ever preaching about to the ZANU PF members and supporters should be embraced by every peace loving individual in the country. Actually the internal fights which ends up with certain individuals coming up with vote of no confidence against leaders should be addressed as a matter of urgency. While some of such vote of no confidences are genuine and necessary but sometimes they do divide the party thereby leaving the revolutionary party compromised.

For that reason, people should heed the First Lady's appeal for unity and those calls for party members and supporters to forego factionalism and forgive those prepared to re-join the revolutionary party. Her appeal for the party to forgive those who have realised their mistakes and are now ready to come back should be welcomed by party members as forgiveness is good in party building.

People should appreciate that disciplinary action should be handled quite well in order for the party to remain united. In fact disciplinary actions against party members who become deviant should be handled internally without recourse to the media, especially the private media, which goes about blowing things out of proportion. Of late, some ZANU PF members and supporters have been using the private media to attack each other whenever they think that they have some scores to settle.

The issue of indiscipline within some members and supporters of the revolutionary party must be dealt with so that the opposition political parties do not get opportunity to infiltrate its structures as a way of destabilising the party. For that reason, members and supporters of the revolutionary party should seriously heed the advice from the First Lady and make sure that they are united for the good of the party and nation.
