ZimPF's Jealousy Mawarire should respect Jim Kunaka's choice

Reading closely Jealousy Mawarire, the Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) 's Harare spokesperson's comments over Jim Kunaka's defection from ZimPF and re-joining the revolutionary party Zanu-PF, leaves a lot to be desired. Mawarire has brushed aside the defection of Kunaka to Zanu-PF saying that the ZimPF would not lose sleep over that because Kunaka was undergoing rehabilitation in ZimPF in a move to assist him to heal from Zanu-PF psychological abuse.
Mawarire tried to down play Jim Kunaka's move as a non-event and wanted to make Kunaka to appear as someone who was not even having a significance role in ZimPF. Mawarire's claim that Kunaka was undergoing psychological rehabilitation was only meant to trivialise Jim Kunaka's membership in ZimPF. He wanted to make those who cared to listen to him to believe that Kunaka's membership in the ZimPF was nothing and not meaningful as he was still to be active in sprucing up the ZimPF operations. Mawarire wanted his audience to treat Kunaka's departure from ZimPF as ineffective and nothing to celebrate from those who received him in Zanu-PF.
It is surprising that Mawarire wants some people to take him seriously when it is clear that Kunaka has made it public that the ZimPF party is directionless as revealed by what the public has also been reading in the newspapers for the past two weeks. While this writer cannot dispute Mawarire's explanation that Kunaka was undergoing psychological therapy in ZimPF but was that a good move by Mawarire to disclose to the public about someone's private health. Is Mawarire qualified to come out saying that as if he is a medical doctor? Who is Mawarire anyway who wants to disclose someone's psychological problems as if he is qualified to do? Is that not a total fear by Mawarire that his ZimPF is now showing signs of crumpling hence, his coming up with such statements in a move to counter those who might be harbouring ideas of taking that route that has been already taken by Jim Kunaka?
Jim Kunaka like anyone else is entitled to his private affairs including his health and hence there is no one entitled to publicise someone's private affairs. For that reason there is nothing to write about and for Mawarire to downplay Kunaka's defection to Zanu-PF shows that he is missing real facts. Jim Kunaka made it clear that ZimPF is "directionless" and that alone explains a lot to those who have been watching political shenanigans by ZimPF unfolding recently.
On 14 June 2016 Jealousy Mawarire told the Newsday that Jim Kunaka's move was nothing to talk about as he left ZimPF in frustration after the ZimPF's security team frustrated his spying mission. It is surprising that Mawarire accuses Kunaka as one who was spying in the ZimPF and at the same time he said that his defection to Zanu-PF would not make ZimPF lose sleep as he was undergoing psychological rehabilitation. One wonders how the same person who was undergoing psychological rehabilitation can be frustrated by the security of the same political party while spying on it. Why did Mawarire wait for Kunaka's defection to Zanu-PF to say that he was spying on ZimPF instead of compromising him? This is clearly wrong and Mawarire is aware that Kunaka is right to say that ZimPF is directionless. Soon it would be Mawarire defecting to the revolutionary party. Watch this space.
If it is true that Kunaka was undergoing psychological rehabilitation associated with the abuse he received from Zanu-PF, what was the need for the ZimPF security members to frustrate him to the extent of him dumping that party? Is Mawarire right in telling the nation that Kunaka was being rehabilitated and at the same time he was spying on ZimPF activities? Food for thought.
What Mawarire is failing to tell the nation is that there is mistrust among all members of the ZimPF as they are yet to settle down. The fact that ZimPF is made up of almost former members of Zanu-PF including Mawarire himself is clear indication that they are wasting their time chasing some shadows instead of real issues of their political lives. Mawarire's belief that Kunaka was spying on ZimPF activities while Jim Kunaka himself believed that he was part and parcel of ZimPF shows that this party is full of mischievous people who have no direction as said by Kunaka. Mawarire's accusation of Kunaka of being a spy could be a mentality in each one of the members of this ZimPF thing. This shows that the party is nearing disintegration.
Some few weeks ago it was reported in some media circles that former ministers Sylvester Nguni and Bright Matonga were on each other's throat as they were singled out as the major source of problems for ZimPF party. The two were allegedly fighting to outclass each other so that they become recognised by their leader Dr Joyce Mujuru thereby creating fissures within this party. The divisions in this party were also confirmed by ZimPF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo who then admitted that the party was faced with teething problems which he said were going to be resolved. On the other hand former Zanu-PF secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa was also said to be disgruntled after he was not given a prominent role in the party when he allegedly thought he might be the vice president of the party.
So with those plethora of problems emanating from such a party which is still at its early stages of development, would Jim Kunaka be bashed for dumping it before it was too late? Kunaka has realised that a party with people who are fighting each other for supremacy would never get anywhere. Jealousy Mawarire should be the first to know that Kunaka has his political right to do what he wants in life and his defection to Zanu-PF should not be downplayed by a party nearing its political demise.
A party with no clear policy to guide its people on the right direction risks to be dumped by the electorate. Since its formation some few months ago people have seen and witnessed some various individuals said to be its spokesperson leading the public to be left with no idea of who is the real spokesperson of this party. During its formative days Rugare Gumbo was said to be its spokesperson but when it was official unveiled people were told that Methuseli Moyo was the official spokesperson and Gumbo was relegated to an Elder position together with Didymus Mutasa.
Surprisingly Methuseli Moyo has become now a shadow of himself as he has not issued any statement relating to ZimPF activities which a spokesperson is supposed to do leaving Rugare Gumbo, Bright Matonga as well as Jealousy Mawarire and others to do that chapter. So Jim Kunaka's claim that this party is directionless is right because if a party has no main spokesperson and only everyone speaking on its behalf it becomes a problem.
So Mawarire should let Jim Kunaka begin his new political life in Zanu-PF and realise that everyone has got a right to choose what he/she wants at a given time. Jealousy Mawarire should be contented with having his membership that directionless party. If need be Mawarire can also follow on Jim Kunaka's footsteps and Zanu-PF has not closed any door for those who want to come back like what the biblical prodigal son did.
