An open letter to Welshman Ncube and Morgan Tsvangirai

Dear Comrades!
Let me start by congratulating you on the signing of the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties you lead. This is a step in the right direction, as we seek to end the ZANU (PF) misrule. While the MOU is not an electoral pact, but indeed, it sets out a political programme that is likely to lead to an electoral pact between your two parties and others.
The signing of this MOU is historic, in that, it brings back to the fore the Agenda for Change as adopted in February 1999 at the National Working Peoples Convention. In that year, organised labour and broad civil society met and resolved to establish a workers party which was latter known as the Movement for Democratic Change. While the MDC went through organisational capture in year 2000 during the constitution making process, this is the time to implement the 1999 Workers Peoples Convention resolutions. Part of the implementation of the 1999 resolution, is to ensure that the MOU achieves its strategic objective and pull back these two MDCs to the left. A labour backed political movement must be a disciplined force of the left.
Comrades I believe that the success of this MOU is your responsibility, there is no room for failure. It is only the two of you, who must marshal your troops behind this MOU. We can not afford to go back to 2008, where the "Principle of a single candidate" failed, costing the working people and the poor much needed political and economic change. This time around comrades, you can not fail the people of Zimbabwe.
Let me assure you of the support that you will receive from the left forces across the globe once this MOU leads to the signing of a coalition of the opposition. We are ready to contribute to the manifesto that will speak to issues affecting the working class and the poor.
I wish you all the best as you begin to work towards the establishment of a coalition between yourselves and other progressive forces in our country.
Aluta Continua!
Yours In Struggle
