Trojan Mine Primary School teachers plight being dragged to high court
14 Mar 2018 at 07:08hrs | Views
There is confusion on who should be responsible for the administration of a school in Bindura Mash. Central after the mine had changed management and ownership way back in 2014 when a Chinees group acquired shares in BNC and Freda Mines Bindura. Trojan Mine failed to pay its workers while on care and maintanence period. The mine had been the Responsible authority since the school was officially opened in 1982. For the past decades the school was catered for by the mine authorities as enshrined in the Ministry of Mines document that stipulates that just like in rural set up the mine should provide decent staff/ teachers houses for each school under their jurisdiction.
Following the changing of hands in ownership of the said mine the mine is said to have weaned of the school but only classroom buildings without teachers houses as they are now trying to cover up their promise to sell houses to mine employees with outstanding salaries & terminal benefits.
Geographically the school falls under a Rural District council but they are being pushed to Bindura municiplality which is an urban set up for reasons best known by some corrupt officials who directly or indirectly have personal gains.
Visits have been made to the district office but seem to be not fully informed on who actually went to Bindura Municiplality and the Municipal officials questioned are just saying they were requested to be the Responsible authority. At the same time Bindura Rural District Council officials are stating that the school belongs to them but they once requested its officers to conduct their business but were refused by the current head. Several attempts were done through the political leadership structures but the head has her own agenda / interest. The mine authorities having noted this loophole are now taking advantage in evicting teachers from houses they had actually allocated to the school. ( teachers are now dragged to court)
In general this is contrary to what the government is advocating for on provision for education how can we expect our children to pass when our teachers are being tossed and frustrated like this. please we need so Godly Angel to intervene
