Let's respect Chivayo's right to give - if God loves a cheerful giver, who are we to hate him - A call for respect and integrity
8 hrs ago | Views
Dear Zimbabweans,
It is disheartening to witness the unjust and unfounded criticism aimed at Sir Wicknell Chivayo, one of the world's most generous billionaires. His generosity has set global records, but instead of celebrating his charitable acts, some critics have chosen to attack him. These critics, whose motives may stem from envy or personal agendas, fail to understand a simple Biblical principle: God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7).
In the Book of James, the rich are warned to fear God and treat their wealth with humility. It is written that those with wealth must remember the source of their abundance, and as they choose to give, they must do so according to their personal will and not through coercion or societal pressure. This is the heart of true generosity - voluntary and guided by the individual's conscience, not imposed by any man. God's word gives clear instructions on giving, whether through paying taxes, helping the poor, or through freewill offerings. However, it never commands anyone to give beyond their ability or personal choice.
The Great Republic of Zimbabwe, as a Nation, must embrace the principles of respect and unity. We must allow Sir Wicknell to enjoy his divine right to give in ways he deems fit, and not allow negative forces to dictate his actions. Even God, the Creator of all, does not force anyone to give; He respects individual choice, and so should we.
To those criticizing his contributions, I urge you to reflect on the importance of respecting others' freedoms, especially when it comes to the act of giving. No one has the right to impose their expectations on how one should share their wealth, nor should we allow lawfare or verbal attacks to undermine the principles of generosity and kindness.
In conclusion, let us rise above the pettiness and negativity. Let us celebrate those who choose to give freely and generously. Sir Wicknell, like every other individual, has the right to decide how, when, and to whom he contributes. Just as God's rules guide his heart, so too should we respect his choices.
God bless the Great Republic of Zimbabwe.
