10:35am, Nov 11 - +263 7* *** ****: Unearthing the vileness and the dark ends of unsafe working practices...the case of kitsi yatota...Bindura.... the last very fatal case to be known in Zimbabwe mining industry was the Kamandama incident of 1979...according to Hwange colliery mine SHE records..it claimed about 427 males... however the lesson established therefore was none other than care and concern on safety and health issues...this saw a proactive approach being established in all mining institutions. Even so..low income levels propelled small scale miners to venture as well into mining without proper safety and mining equipment...at kitsi yatota in Bindura about 1000 small scale miners are engaged into mining without PPEs. There is no proper mining technology..in use dynamites are exploded at random with semi skilled proffessionals...so far 1 was killed in.an accident that happened last two days...and left 3 injured to the point of death...more risk is calmnating to women who were empowered to be in mining activities though bieng the chikorokoza by the first lady after the Bindura meet the people rally...yes some are having income for life even if its gambling....more lives are at risk. I feel care should be taken...
