17:37, 6 Jan - +263 7* *** ****: Chaos in Chinyamukwakwa as villagers retaliate the wanton arrest by police.
Chisumbanje police station is fast becoming notorious in the manner in which the police is handling the boundary dispute between villagers and Green fuel.
In a weekend of madness instigated by the over zealousness junior police officers, villagers have been severely beaten and arrested while innocently tilling their ancestral land.
Today six people have been violently apprehended and taken to Chisumbanje police station for trespassing.
Though arrested, there was drama as police and farmers chased after each in an epic battle that lasted for almost an hour. The names of the arrested are Samson Mugovera Myambo and his wife Chipo Chiripinda and young brother Kazi Myambo Mugovera.
The police also overpowered and arrested Vaina Ndhlovu,Edmore Ndhlovu and Hasani Simango.
This arrest is interpreted by the villagers and residence of Chipinge as provocative since this is taking place hours after the release from custody of Kazi Mugovera Myambo, His wife Regina Chigidi who was arrested with a one year old Ashley Mugovera as well as Florence Mugovera Myambo who were detained for three days.
Their matter was thrown away at Chipinge magistrates court for lacking substance. The verdict of the court cases is known and will always lead to the arrested freed since there is no crime in protecting known boundaries and right to land by villagers.
This dispute is five years long and villagers are determined to stay put on their land despite this persecution and dehumanisation by the Investor.
The government of Zimbabwe is failing to be decisive in solving this dispute thereby allowing the police who are highly compromised to use maximum force on the innocent and vulnerable villagers.
Cabinet and Parliament of Zimbabwe have been engaged with all evidence proving that Green fuel as a private entity was going beyond permissible boundaries.
