Mugabe and Mobutu; political Siamese twins

01 Feb 2015 at 03:57hrs | Views
As we go towards Mugabe's birthday daily on the news we are reminded of his days in Mozambique. In cult hero-worshipping people will sing songs that are music into your ears, say sweet things which they do not mean at all.

Mobutu, the former strongman of Zaire, now DRC, enjoyed that type of worshipping from his purported supporters when he was at the helm of power. And they loved him, so he thought!

It is a shame people forget easily on this type of cult hero-worshipping and end up thinking they are so special. In Zimbabwe we have heard of grown up man, so old that one feels sorry for them, praising Mugabe and saying unimaginable things. Some have said blasphemous things, not remembering the Scriptures that say, "thou shall worship only God".

Looks like this type of worshipping will not end soon because one of the Vice Presidents is being heaped with praise.

Well, let them enjoy it while it lasts. Where is Mobuto now?, I mean he is only remembered for the wrong things in DRC. His name is connected with all misdemeanours that have bedevilled the DRC.

People are sleeping on empty stomachs, not sure about the next day and on the other side someone is scrambling around to raise money for a birthday, its not small money hey but millions!

These fundraisers read about children failing to attend school but its not their worry, I presume they say.

The moment our President leaves mother earth the praise will disappear too, none for Chatunga none for that family.

Zimbabwe is much bigger than any individual, people should remember this.

All countries that have done this cult hero-worshipping are the worst in development. Look at Cuba, lraq, DRC, and a host of south American countries. lt is a struggle in these nations but some like Cuba are realizing these errors and are moving away from it.

Honestly how can a huge man like Overt Mpofu sign his letters 'your Obedient son', its pure shame.
