18 Feb 2012 at 22:46hrs | Views
11.30pm: That's all from me, we'll have a report from Chris Eubank Jnr later, he is in the ring soon. Goodnight.
1.27pm: Dereck Chisora: 'I'm not going to hide behind excuses, I got beat by experience. I don't regret anything. They can boo me, people can love me or hate me as long as they're watching the sport I love, I'm happy. I came here to fight and I did that. The only thing that beat me was experience.
'Did he hurt me? No. I didn't work my jab, I'm very disappoint in myself but I gave a great fight.'
11.24pm: Frank Warren wants a rematch and Chisora confirms he would be keen, or he would take on Wladimir.
11.22pm: Mark Colverson has been back in touch: 'Like I said, del boy did good! As much as people want to bitch about what happened in the build up, you can't argue that he gave his all.'
11.20pm: The two square up again with Wladimir in the middle. They are eventually split up and it looks unlikely they'll be kissing and making up any time soon.
11.18pm: In Munich, the official scores: 118-110, 118-110 and 119-111 to Klitschko.
11.17pm: In Sheffield, Kid Galahad has beaten Jason Booth with a comprehensive, unanimous points win.
11.15pm: Chisora certainly gave everything and Vitali has been in his toughest fight for some time but the champion will keep his belt with a unanimous points win.
VITALI KLITSCHKO WILL RETAIN HIS TITLE
ROUND 12: Final round and Chisora has to KO Vitali to win. The Londoner is slow off his seat but the two touch gloves. Good left from Chisora but he misses up wit the follow up right. Does land a 1-2 seconds later however. He continues to fight on the front foot and has certainly landed more in the final session. 10-9
ROUND 11: Only three men have taken Klitschko the distance so if Chisora can get through the next six minutes, he will at least have achieved that. He has definitely given a better show than David Haye did against Wladimir. Klitscko hits on the back of the head and is spoken to by the referee and Chisora reverts back to his big swings, and misses. Vitali is back on top as we enter the final round 9-10.
ROUND 10: Both fighters are tired, and why wouldn't they be? Not a great number of shots being thrown and Klitschko just has to get through to the final bell to win the bout and retain his belt. Good work from Chisora in the last few seconds but he's running out of time. 9-10
OFFICIAL SCORES AFTER 8: 79-74 79-73 79-73 to Klitschko
ROUND 9: No official scores after the eighth which we should have had by WBC rules. Not more dodgy scoring please! Quieter round this, this is definitely not Klitschko at his best but Chisora doesn't;manage to get too many shots away and takes a couple to the body and then a right to the head lands flush. Better from the champ, he landed the better shots but he looks a bit jaded to be honest. 9-10.
ROUND 8: This is the round Chisora predicted he would deliver the KO. He certainly steps it up in the middle of the session with a left-right combination. he throws another good right and Vitali wants to hold but comes back with a right to the body. Well, the right goes to the ninth but another good one from the Brit. 10-10
ROUND 7: Good start from the Brit, he lands a jab then a right to the body as he chases Vitali round the ring. Another good right to the head as he tries to let fly. Klitschko's mid-rift is certainly red and Del Boy continues to walk forward. Vitali comes back in the final seconds of the round but Chisora takes his punches and the round 10-9
ROUND 6: Chisora's corner tell him to come in on the angles and to stop walking in a straight line. Klitscko starts the round well but Chisora begins to find the target with his right hand and lands a couple to the body but the champ responds in the final minute of the round. Another one shared though. 10-10
ROUND 5: Klitscko seems so unfazed as he strolls round the room. It must be so frustrating facing him in the ring as he picks his opponents off as they try to get inside his long jab. Chisora continues to walk forward but he can't get his combinations away, instead relying on a jab here and there. 10-10
Official scores: 40-36, 40-37, 39-37 to Klitschko
ROUND 4: Not the most exciting of rounds as the initial flurry of shots from Chisora dies down. He's certainly busy but not landing much as Vitali waits his turn and sticks out his jab and catches the challenger. 10-10
ROUND 3: Chisora is warned against using his head early in the round. Decent jab and left hook from the Brit but Vitali responds with an uppercut that Chisora takes well. The Londoner is not quite as pro-active in this session though and just looks a little outclassed to be honest. He keeps going for the big one but Vitali sees it coming a mile off. 9-10
ROUND 2: Chisora is determined to land a huge right but keeps missing; he does get to the body with a left though. Credit to the Brit for showing some attacking intent but he walks into two left hands as Vitali picks him off, much to the delight of the crowd. Another couple of rights from the champ and he lands the better shots once again. 9-10
ROUND 1: Chisora is ducking and diving as Klitschko seeks him out with his precise jab. Del Boy swings and misses with a big right and then another as he tries to fight on the front foot. He takes a left flush in the face though and then a right. Vitali looks so controlled and finishes the round strongly. My score (Chisora first) 9-10
10.26pm: Chisora continues to show no respect as he spits water into Wladimir's face.
10.24pm: Chisora is wearing an old school Manchester United top with seven on the back. Will he see the seventh round tonight?
10.22pm: Anthems done, it's down to Michael Buffer to introduce the two in the way only he can.
10.21pm: God Save Our Queen reverberates around the arena as Chisora and Klitscko continue to stare each other down.
10.20pm: The two come face to face in the ring! Hang about lads, there are some formalities to get through first.
10.18pm: We have the usual preamble, with bells, clocks and video footage of Vitali's previous fights. But here he is...
10.15pm: I reckon Klitschko will win in six, for what it's worth. Chisora is in the ring and here comes the champ, introduced by Michael Buffer.
10.12pm: He is roundly booed of course by the German crowd. The Brit walks out to LL Cool J's 'Mama Said Knock You Out' after he was told he couldn't enter to the Only Fools and Horses theme.
10.10pm: Chisora is saying his prayers in his dressing room and is now entering the arena...
10.05pm: Meanwhile, in Munich, the singing is over and we should be seeing some boxers in the ring real soon.
10.03pm: Kid Galahad faces Jason Booth in Sheffield tonight. I'll keep you in the loop with that one, and Chris Eubank Jnr's second pro bout.
10.02pm: Meanwhile, in Sheffield, Mick Hennessy says Tyson Fury will fight Martin Rogan in Belfast on April 14.
10.01pm: Christina Perri is singing her latest single 'Jar of Hearts'. Can't imagine this happening in York Hall, Wembley or any of our arenas.
10.00pm: Mark Colverson has emailed in: 'Look at the eyes on Chisora when he slaps Klitschko - he's right in the zone! Either he's a mentalist or he knows something we don't!'
9.55pm: The WBC confirmed that Chisora will be fined for his slap and will likely have to forfeit £30,000. Apparently he is on £100,000 for the fight so will be taking quite a bit less home to London.
9.53pm: We're around 15 minutes from the first bell. Next up is some pre-fight entertainment, German style.
9.51pm: My Sportsmail colleague Riath Al-Samarrai has laid down a challenge to Chisora: 'I'm fairly sure I could beat Chisora. Points, most likely, but quite a wide margin. Probably.'
9.50pm: Chisora reckons he will knock Klitscko out in the eighth round. This is a man who has won 43 of his 45 fights and who hasn't been knocked down. His only defeats came to Lennox Lewis and Chris Byrd due to cuts and a shoulder injury respectively.
9.45pm: Del Boy is certainly in better shape than when he lost to Tyson Fury. To be fair, I think I'm in better shape than he was on that night.
9.42pm: Anyway, back to tonight's action. Does anyone think Chisora can win? There is no doubt he showed a lot more in his last fight against Robert Helenius which he lost on a split decision. It is widely accepted that the Brit was on the wrong end of a home decision in Finland and that he should have won the European belt.
9.40pm: David Haye is providing analysis tonight which is fair enough given his experience but he seems to think we've all forgotten about his woeful defeat to Wladimir. He claims a deal was agreed for him to fight Vitali in June but that the Ukrainian pulled out last month.
9.35pm: Dean Powell, who wraps Dereck's hands says: 'Vitali's complaining saying you can't put tape on the skin. Then they started saying stuff about the gauze. I've never heard anything like it, it was just ridiculous. Wlad wasn't even at the rules meeting yesterday so he doesn't know what was discussed. I have done Dereck's hands now and he's ready. They were just trying to upset Dereck, but he's OK.'
9.30pm: Wladimir claims he is satisfied with Chisora's hands now. He says he's been in the sport for 16 years and that rules must be followed.
9.27pm: Banks does indeed retain the belt after 12 rounds, but it was certainly not a classic. 120-108, 119-109 and 119-109 were the scores.
9.25pm: In the ring at the moment are Johnathon Banks and Nicolai Firtha and the former looks set to retain his North American heavyweight title.
9.22pm: Frank Warren confirms the ring walk will be delayed by 10 minutes.
9.21pm: Panic over, the fight goes ahead. It remains to be seen how Chisora has been affected mentally however. He can't have too many complaints after his slap.
9.20pm: For a fight that wasn't generating a whole lot of interest, it has suddenly leapt into the limelight. David Haye is saying the Klitschkos do this on a regular basis and that Vitali did a similar thing before his fight with Wladimir.
9.18pm: It seems to be an issue with the way tape is attached and the fight could well be delayed.
9.16pm: Chisora has threatened to pull out of the fight if he can't wrap his hands as he wants.
9.15pm: More from backstage and Wladimir got into Chisora's dressing room and objected to the way his hands were being wrapped.
9.12pm: We've had some underwhelming undercard action tonight but Liverpool's Stephen Smith returned to the ring with a first-round stoppage over Arpad Vass. Smith had lost his Commonwealth and British titles to Lee Selby last year.
9.10pm: Bit of drama backstage. Wladimir Klitschko claims he is the official inspector and needs to check Chisora's hands but promoter Frank Warren is having none of it.
9.08pm: I'll also update you on Chris Eubank Jnr as he takes to the ring for the second time in his professional career against Jason Ball in Rotherham.
9.07pm: What are your thoughts on Chisora's antics? Personally I think he was stupid and showed a lack of respect to someone who could well blast him out of the ring tonight. Get in touch using the email address above or send me a tweet.
9.05pm: We are expecting the two fighters to touch gloves at 10pm at which point we will see if there will be any reaction from Klitschko to Chisora's slap at the weigh-in yesterday.
9.00pm: Welcome to Byo24Sport's live round-by-round coverage of Dereck Chisora's heavyweight clash with Vitali Klitschko in Munich.
