HIGHLANDERS coach Erol Akbay might not be returning to Zimbabwe, a local tabloid reported.

If he happens to come back, he could be heading to Triangle.

The Dutchman, who is on holiday signed a two year deal at the beginning of the 2016 season.

According to his manager Denford Mutashu, Akbay was unhappy with the level of professionalism displayed by the Bulawayo giants during his first tenure.

He also cited 'irresistible' offers from Tanzania and South Africa's top flight clubs.

"He is home but he has since hinted that he will not come back to Highlanders. It's a possibility. The issues he raised were crucial and we have been discussing with the club.

"We had agreed that he to respect his contract. Bosso FC is a well-respected club not in Zimbabwe but in the African region and their decision to give Erol a chance should never be taken for granted. However, there were issues to do with his welfare which were not properly handled," Mutashu said.

Remember he has a family back home. He needs to pay for insurances, rentals, school fees for his children among other things. They also struggled to pay him with certain transactions he had wanted from the onset. He came clean that he was here to work for his family and his needs must be priority."

Highlanders finished the season on position three behind CAPS United who were deservedly crowned 2016 champions and ending a 11-year title drought and FC Platinum who were second.

Akbay who was given a mandate to finish within the top four bracket, lost Bruce Kangwa to Tanzania's Azam FC and Knox Mutizwa to South Africa's Bidvest Wits during the midseason despite a high flying start of the season.

The Dutchmen, whose contract in December 2017, was rumored joining a Triangle if he happens to return to Zimbabwe.
