Charlie Adam Lined Up to Replace Paul Scholes: Manchester United
Sir Alex Ferguson has joined the chase for Charlie Adam by targeting the 25-year old midfielder as Paul Scholes' replacement, according to the Daily Mail.
The Manchester United manager was said to be so impressed by Adam he could make him a top-priority signing in the summer or even swoop for him on deadline day.
Following United's 3-2 win at Blackpool last week, Ferguson said: "We couldn't handle Charlie Adam. His corners alone are worth £10million."
Liverpool have reportedly seen a renewed £8million bid turned down by Ian Holloway's side, with the Seasiders holding out for a fee of around £16million.
It is believed United would be prepared to pay this sum, either in the summer or perhaps even on deadline day.
In any case, any fee Blackpool would receive almost certainly will be a colossal profit on a player they splashed out a club record £500,000 for back in July 2009 when he signed from Rangers.
