Chapfika in near fight

OUSTED Mufakose United coach David Kutyauripo almost traded blows with his successor Tendai Chapfika during a handover takeover ceremony at the club last Monday.
Kutyauripo got the boot alongside his aids Conrad Nyambabvu and Godlin Mapisa to what the Mufakose United hierarchy termed 'poor performance' which has left the team on 13th position with 22 points off 17 games in the Northern Region Soccer League.
For this reason, the Mufakose United management sacked Kutyauripo and company and replaced them with Chapfika who is working on interim basis with provision of being substantive should he get the expected results.
While the firing and hiring process was smooth sailing, the handover takeover ceremony was dramatic as the two coaches got into a near fight.
"It was just a small issue," Chapfika told H-Metro.
"I had just replaced him at Mufakose (United) as head coach so at handover takeover there was just a small misunderstanding but it was nothing serious.
"It was just an emotion; you know what happens at work. He just accused me for being behind him losing the job."
H-Metro caught up with Kutyauripo who believes his friend –Chapfika- betrayed him. Kutyauripo says that Chapfika is not clean.
"When I was at work, I talked to him and you will be sharing everything with him but I didn't know he had an agenda so he went behind my back.
"I was telling him my plans and the next thing I hear he is being appointed. I phoned him to ask on (last) Sunday and he denied links with Mufakose United.
"He denied but to my surprise I saw him at the ground. When he saw me he started running so I told him I wasn't happy. I feel betrayed, he even advised me and soon after we would lose or draw."
Kutyauripo raised a concern of coaches who apply for jobs without invitation from the club management.
"What other coaches in Zimbabwe are doing is bad. I have a lot to offer, I am young and just coming in and have a lot to offer but this guy (Chapfika)…I feel betrayed.
"We are brothers in this job, let a person fail on his own. I don't want to get angry because if I get angry I burst."
Asked on his relationship with Chapfika going forward, Kutyauripo said:
"If I see him I will greet him and support him. It's just a period that's life."
Meanwhile, Mufakose United director Norman Chabata confirmed the incident hinting that they might have erred in appointing Kutyauripo in the first place.
"We are now starting to think we made a wrong move. We now think he doesn't have discipline because of what happened. We didn't expect that.
"The team dropped from number four to number 13, why should I keep you in such a situation? We are losing money but results are not coming," he said.
