Four Zimbabwe national soccer team players were on Tuesday caught in Harare red-handed in the company of well-known match fixers having lunch.

ZIFA now suspects that games against Guinea and Mozambique were fixed.

The players are Knowledge Musona and Ovidy Karuru, Thomas Sweswe and Zhaimu Jambo.

This raised speculation that the last two matches against Guinea and Mozambique were fixed.

ZIFA CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze is quoted saying "we are disturbed by these shenanigans and they come barely 48 hours after we played terribly in Mozambique and just over a week after that 1-0 loss to Guinea at home."

Reports say the four players were caught after a tip off by some soccer fans who had spotted them.

"They were at a loss for words when we caught them. The players said they were picking up some papers from these guys" added Mashingaidze.

On Tuesday evening , ZBC reported that Karuru and Musona were spotted by ZIFA CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze at his predecessor, Henrietta Rushwaya's Harare offices along with Svesve and Jambo ahead of the two matches.

Rushwaya was sacked by ZIFA following allegations of masterminding a match-fixing scandal in which Warriors teams were paid to lose friendly matches by an Asian betting syndicate. She was however cleared by the courts last month on a technicality.

Coach Rahman Gumbo told reporters in Mozambique after full time that he would have killed him if I was one of his teammates.

Even ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube is also not pleased.

"During the game against Guinea you could see a players getting close to the goalkeeper and shooting well wide," said the Zifa president.
