The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has clarified the absence of vice-captain Marshall Munetsi and winger Khama Billiat from the latest Warriors squad set to face Algeria and Qatar during the November international break.
The Warriors are scheduled to play Algeria on November 13 in Saudi Arabia before taking on Qatar a few days later in another international friendly.
In a statement released on Friday, ZIFA said Munetsi was excused from national duty at the request of his English Premier League club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, which is currently undergoing a coaching transition.
"Marshall Munetsi has been excused at the request of his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, due to a coaching transition," read part of the statement.
Wolves recently dismissed head coach Vítor Pereira, with former U21 coach James Collins serving as interim manager while Rob Edwards is expected to take over permanently.
Billiat, on the other hand, was left out of the squad for undisclosed "personal reasons," according to ZIFA.
The association also confirmed that captain Knowledge Musona will miss the two matches after sustaining a hamstring injury, while in-form Scottland FC midfielder Tymon Machope has been ruled out with a calf strain.
Their spots in the squad have been filled by defender Isheanesu Mauchi and midfielder Tivonge Rushesha, who both received late call-ups.
The upcoming fixtures are part of Zimbabwe's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, as the team continues to rebuild under head coach Jairos Tapera.
