WARRIORS midfielder Ovidy Karuru has reportedly signed for Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent after impressing the team's technical team during trials and the deal will be announced tomorrow.

According to a source at Chiefs, the former Masvingo United and Gunners star who was in the starting line-up for Chiefs in a pre-season match against Chippa United will be unveiled at a press conference this week.

Karuru lasted for 45 minutes in a match his new side had to come from behind to win 4-2 against the returnees, who also had Warriors defender Eric Chipeta making his debut.

Speaking to the South African media yesterday, Kaizer Chiefs spokesman Vina Maphosa said the Glamour Boys will stage a Press conference tomorrow where they will make a number of announcements, including on the future of Karuru.

But NewsDay Sport has it on good authority that Karuru has signed a three-year contract which will keep him at Naturena until the 2017 season.

"He has been training with us, and yes he has signed a three-year deal. He will be unveiled this week," said the source.

Karuru left the country in 2009 to join French side, Boulogne, though he left them in 2012 after the club were relegated to join OH Leuven of Belgium.

At the Belgian club he had a fallout with former head coach, Ronny van Geneugden, and endured a difficult spell on the sidelines, but was reinstated to the starting XI by the two coaches that followed, first Herman Vermeulen, and now the current coach, Ivan Leko.

However, the 25-year-old decided against renewing his contract with the European club which expired at the end of last season. At Chiefs, he will join up with his Warriors mates in Kingston Nkhata, Willard Katsande and Mathew Rusike.
