Zimbabwean hitman Charlton Mashumba bagged a brace
Jomo Cosmos restored their PSL hopes with a 4-1 thumping of Moroka Swallows in the Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs on Sunday afternoon.

Charlton Mashumba bagged a brace to go with goals from Thabo Ralebakeng and Brice Aka, while veteran forward Siyabonga Nomvete was on target for Swallows at the Vaal University of Technology Stadium.

The result leaves Cosmos, the Dube Birds and Black Leopards on three points apiece after two rounds of fixtures, with Jomo Sono's men narrowly ahead on goal difference.

Mashumba - who netted 17 goals in the NFD this season - got the opener on 24 minutes with a low strike from just inside the area past goalkeeper Sage Stephens.

Ralebakeng doubled the advantage in the 40th minute as his skidding free-kick beat Stephens, who should have done better amid some indecisive defending by Rudi Isaacs.

Nomvete looked to have pulled one back in the 53rd minute but his effort was disallowed for offside.

However, the former Bafana Bafana star was not to be denied four minutes later with a clinical shot on the angle in the box.

Mashumba, though, hit back nine minutes later with a classy run and finish before Aka turned in a cross from the right in the 79th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Cosmos: Naicker, Ralebakeng, Nsabiyumva, Mthembu, Makobela, Mntambo, Monare, Maluleke, Lingwati, Aka, Mashumba

Swallows: Stephens, Mngomezulu, Wana, Isaacs, Baloyi, Lekgothoane, Hendricks, Phalane, Cohen, Obada, Nomvete.
