Harare West MP Jessie Majome has expressed excitement over the achievements made by the Marlborough High School Zebras to be the national boys' soccer under 17 Arenel 2015 champions again second year in a row.

She said she was so excited to meet the young soccer stars today to congratulate for winning this year's U17 Arenel National Association of School Heads (NASH) Soccer Tournament at Prince Edward on 2 August 2015.

"Please help me congratulate them, the best I could do was to give them some soft drinks to quench their tournament thirst. Sponsors for kit etc, anyone out there?" said Majome.

"Marlborough High, captained by Ephraim Masora, coached by Messrs. Mangava and Gora and managed by Chinyamuchiko has also done us proud by having 6 whole Zebras called for national duty, the most players selected to play for Zimbabwe's U17 team."

He said the 6 are the captain Ephraim Masora, young Leeroy Mavunga who was recently signed to Caps United - Jnrs, Wishes Chiganan'ana, Panashe Dzapasi, Thandanani Mabhena and Petros Mudzengerere.

"The other team players are Alvin Mugwiro, Charles Rabson, Tawanda Mushayademo, Kenneth Fiyaviya, Forster Dhembere, Farai Chinyamuchako, Simbarashe Shoniwa, Knowledge Matanhike, Kumbiraishe Sibesha, Roland Kanyai, Kelvin Tumayi, Emmanuel Merekiyo, Sean Jonathan, Gilbert Nyamuchanja, Malvin Mungate, Tanaka Mutoredzanwa, Ephraim Masora (Captain)," said Majome.

"This visit, just hours before the school closed for the holidays term, has inspired me to to use my Parliamentary presence to push for good governance enshrined in the Constitution to also be in sport in Zimbabwe. I expressed my embarrassment that we the adults have let the young people down by the mess in local football administration culminating in the shameful miss of the 2018 World."

She said she told them of her hope in that they are young enough to be in their prime to play in the 2022 Qatar World Cup if they sort out their mess, which they must.

"I promised them to do my part. I asked them to thank their parents on my behalf for supporting their education, and sport, and thanked the coaches, teachers and head Mr. Machoko for the same. I urged them to aim higher and higher, and execute their academic and other endeavours with the same discipline and perseverance they apply in their God-given soccer talent," she said.

"I also took the opportunity to congratulate Marlborough High on not only being big on sport, but for also winning, this year, the Ministry of Education's Harare Provincial Award for the most improved 2014 Ordinary Level results. I am happy to see a school that works on developing a child on all aspects of education. I was also happy to meet my Junior MP for Harare West Hon. Madzikanga, bright star who is already leading today and hopefully also tomorrow."

Majome said as schools are a major asset in Harare West, one of her initiatives to assist schools was to get former students from schools in Harare West to assist their schools.

"I met Old Ellis Robins Boys and old Mabelreign Girls High girls in the UK which effort produced a website for Ellis Robins httpa//www.ellisrobins.com/:::www.ellisrobins.com which connects old students with the school," she said.

"I am calling upon all old students of our schools to form associations and support them and especially Marlborough High School students to support the school through Old Marlborough Students' Association which has already led the way. I hope to meet soon to join forces.

I have previously donated library books to Marlborough High which I sourced from the UK, so as to encourage a reading culture in students."

She thanked their parents, teachers, coaches and staff at Marlborough High for the work they are doing under very, very difficult circumstances.

"Marlborough High is a cradle of soccer excellence- did you know that Denver Mukamba who plays in South Africa was raised, and learnt his kicks as a Zebra? We are proud of him," she said.
