IT WAS Bafana Bafana's only victory in the World Cup – when they beat France 2-1.

But did muthi help them win? Sunday Sun revealed thatt the South African Football Association secretly hired a SANGOMA for the match!

S'bonelo Madela, a young KZN inyanga, told the paper that he was asked to "doctor" the Free State stadium for the 22 June game – for an agreed fee of R60 000.

And now he's angry – Bafana Bafana won, but so far Safa have only paid him R10 000!

Apparently, Safa ADMITTED they struck the muthi deal with the sangoma. But they denied they still owe him money.

Madela, from Ulundi, told Sunday Sun that Safa came to him because they wanted strong muthi to help Bafana Bafana do well in the world tournament.

"I gave Safa a victory," said Madela. "But Bafana's other matches didn't go so well, so now it's a different story.

"I'm forced to take the matter to my lawyers because they are now playing games with me and not keeping their promises," he said.

According to Madela, Safa agreed to hire him under "special projects".

At first he wanted a fee of R100 000 but later he agreed to accept R60 000.

Said Madela: "I was only used for the one game. But after I applied my muthi to Free State stadium – and Bafana beat the French – I was persuaded to accept R10 000 'just for now'.

When Sunday Sun approached Safa deputy president, Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana, he confirmed the arrangement with Madela.

"Why does he have to go to the media about this?" said the chief.

"I am disappointed. He is blowing the matter out of all proportion."

Nonkonyana said there was no written agreement signed by Safa with the sangoma and denied he was owed R50 000.

"I don't understand what is he complaining about now. We spoke to him and we came to an understanding to settle for R10 000 and the matter was finalised."

Safa financial controller Gronie Hluyo confirmed to Sunday Sun that he paid out R10 000 to Madela after Nonkonyana mentioned the amount.

"I remember it, the Chief gave us the figure and we paid it out," said Hluyo.
