iCloud sues Apple over copying its trademark

An U.S. company named "iCloud communication" sued Apple over copying its trademark, according to media reports Monday.
ICloud communication, an Arizona-based VoIP provider, asserted that Apple's infringement is now hurting its business and confusing the customers.
"Due to the worldwide media coverage given to and generated by Apple's announcement of its 'iCloud' services and the ensuing saturation advertising campaign pursued by Apple, the media and the general public have quickly come to associate the mark 'iCloud' with Apple, rather than iCloud Communications," reads the court filing.
This lawsuit was filed in the Arizona district court on Thursday.
ICloud Communications is demanding the court for all of Apple's profits from iCloud thus far and for Apple to immediately stop using the name of "iCloud".
Apple's representatives did not immediately respond so far.
Apple did apply for the trademark "iCloud" in Europe on March 31 and bought the iCloud.com domain for 4.5 million U.S. dollars.
This is not the first time that Apple's products met with lawsuits over trademark issue. In 2007, Apple's iPhone was sued by Cisco, which launched a product also called "iPhone".
