There is nothing as exciting as a dream realised!
Welcome Zimbabwe to the very first International Comedy Festival in our own country! The Rainbow Towers Comedy Fest brought to you by Xtra Time Investments and revolutionary Zimbabwean Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube.
This year the comedy fest features the top stand up comedy duo of Donovan Goliath and Jason Goliath from South Africa in what is expected to be a night of rib cracking, gut wrenching laughter.
The South African Comedy Duo will be joined on stage by Zimbabwean Comedy Legend Michael K, rising star Q and the show will be hosted by top Zimbabwean comedian Carl Joshua Ncube.
The Rainbow Comedy Fest is a collaboration of a number of partners inspired by festivals like HIFA and Shoko and the need to develop a pure festival for comedy enthusiasts was long overdue says Carl Joshua Ncube.
So teaming up with the Premiere Hotel Brand Rainbow Towers and promoters Xtra Time investments this comedy festival is set to make its mark on the African Comedy Circuit bringing in some of the top comics from the continent and the world in a quarterly event!
The first comedy festival will be held on the 28th of November at Rainbow Towers show starting at 7pm with tickets going at $15.
"Next year the festival will happen four more times a move that will see the growth of the Zimbabwean stand up comedy industry" said Carl citing that "the collaboration between Zimbabwean and International acts will cause nothing but growth for the local scene. Its the same thing that made me grow as a comedian performing on the continent with some of the biggest names, now I am so honoured to be able to bring some of these names to Zimbabwe" he added!
Jason Goliath Bio
Nominated in the Blackberry Breakthrough category 2013 and as Best Newcomer in the 2012 Comics Choice Awards this Comedian, MC, Actor and Facilitator has featured as the lead in a number of large Ad Campaigns : DSTV Box Office, Castle Lager, Cell C, First For Women, Tiger Wheel and Tyre, CTM, Mobicell, Sasol, Bar One and Wimpy to name a few. Jason plays Gatiep in the SAFTA Nominated SABC 1 Sitcom Ses' Top La.
Jason Goliath is a larger than life comedian who literally is larger than life (it's because all this personality won't fit into a smaller body ok!) With a commanding stage presence, ridiculous amounts of energy and a character based set focused on making audiences laugh at life's uncomfortable truths; he has performed successfully at numerous corporate events and leading comedy rooms/events: Blacks Only, Proudly Coloured Comedy Festival, Parkers, Melville Underground, Kings and Queens of Comedy, AWEdnesday Comedy Jam, LOL at Gold Reef City
Comics Choice Awards Winners Lap, The Box and many many more.
With more than 10 years professional MC experience Jason also takes on Facilitation and Motivational roles and has done so for Standard Bank, FNB, Deloitte and SAA to mention a few.
Donovan Goliath Bio
Parents who name their kid Donovan David Goliath (true story) must surely expect that the internal conflicts caused by giving their son such a name would lead him into comedy one day. And, when he leaves a lucrative advertising job for a full time career in comedy, they only have themselves to blame. But comedy audiences are happy about it, even if his folks are not.
Donovan David Goliath's bedtime stories about growing up in the Transkei as a coloured boy
who looks white but speaks fluent Xhosa are more funny than scary. In fact, it's these life
experiences that launched him into comedy in the first place. It all began on the 26th September 2010 where he did his first ever 4min 35sec set at the Comedy Underground in Melville.
People laughed and rolled on the floor and there were rear ends lying everywhere. This inspired him to keep writing and performing harder, better, faster, stronger. And it's been a great ride since. It's safe to say that most of his success thus far has been fuelled by his dad's motto: "Work the hardest. Be yourself." His act is based around insightful storytelling and simple truths using various characters and impersonations.
As a relatively new comic on the circuit, he has rocked stages and fesses all over the country
including Blacks Only, Soweto Comedy Festival, 99% Xhosa Comedy (East London), Zulu Comedy Corner (Durban), Jou Ma Se Comedy (Cape Town), Mzansi Fela Festival, AWEdnesday Comedy Jam, Tshwane Comedy Nights and completed a 51 show, 3 month run for LOL at Gold Reef City. He is also a nominee in the 'Newcomer Of The Year Category' for the 2012 Comics Choice Awards
