National Electoral Reform Agenda has said it has met the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to in an effort to obtain the digital itinerary for Phase 2 of the Polling station Mapping Process.
Mapping out of polling stations is the process of ensuring legitimate polling station locations are verified and utilized for 2018 elections. This Process has been broken into three Phases. We are now entering Phase 2.
NERA said phase 2 Involves mapping out and verifying locations where polling stations will placed.
"In past elections there have been issues of Bogus Polling Stations in unknown or none existent areas which therefore resulted in bogus votes," said NERA.
"The process of receiving the itinerary was difficult and complicated as has been our experience with anything involving the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission."
NERA said ZEC is also required to provide resources for All Stakeholders including NERA to participate in the mapping out and the verification process but has Stated they cannot afford to provide these resources.
"Although ZEC has failed to provide resources for NERA stakeholders to take part in the verification process, NERA has put together A team which is working on limited and mostly personal resources to ensure that all potential polling station locations are legitimate," said NERA.
"NERA takes the verification process very seriously and will raise issues with ZEC and inform the public about any illegitimate polling locations. NERA remains steadfast in working with the citizens to ensure FREE and FAIR elections in 2018."
