A DITCHED Bulawayo man has allegedly threatened to kill his ex-wife for refusing to reconcile with him.
Mastone Maraire from Parklands suburb is reportedly in the habit of stalking his ex-wife Eunice Mhangwa and threatening her with death.
Mhangwa told a Bulawayo Civil Court that she could no longer tolerate the frequent stalking and threats by her ex-husband.
She prayed to the court to save her life by granting her protection order against Maraire.
"Mastone Maraire is my ex-husband. We were customarily married and we separated in March 2007. Respondent has always abused me during the subsistence of our marriage as he would assault me.
"The abuse continued even after we separated as he now frequents my place to verbally abuse me while also threatening to kill me if I refuse to reconcile with him.
"The respondent usually stalks me and whenever he meets me in town he forces me to get into his car. His behaviour has become dangerous to my life and I am now appealing to the court to stop him from physically and verbally abusing me as well as stalking me," said Mhangwa.
In response, Maraire was remorseful and blamed his misconduct on beer.
"I want to apologise to my wife. Sometimes I would have taken beer. If that is what she wants may the court grant her the application but I love her and I still regard her as my wife," said Maraire.
Despite his plea for forgiveness, Mhangwa said she could not take it anymore.
Maraire was ordered by the presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova not to threaten the applicant with any form of violence and not to visit her house in Northend suburb and workplace.
