A NKAYI woman who allegedly cheated on her live-in boyfriend, a police officer, resulting in him committing suicide when he discovered about the illicit affair has reportedly looted property and rushed to collect his death certificate without his family's approval.
The now deceased Liston Hove had problems with his girlfriend Dorcas Nyaude after her other boyfriend phoned him boasting about impregnating her and squandering his bonus money.
A reliable source close to the Hove family revealed that they were bitter following Nyaude's actions.
"Nyaude and Hove's relationship was only two months old. The woman had a boyfriend based in Kwekwe.
"At the time of his death, he had a misunderstanding with the woman after discovering she was pregnant and had spent his bonus money with another man.
"The Hove family suspects foul play as the story of their son having committed suicide does not add up," said the source.
The source revealed that the deceased's body was found at his house despite Nyaude's claims that she had left the house locked when she went to the police to report that he was missing.
"Nyaude claims she locked the house when she left for the police station to report a missing person. How can she say he was missing when he had only been away for a few hours?
"To make matters worse, he was found lying inside the house and the broken window showed it had been broken from inside.
"It is clear that he was beaten up and forced to drink pesticide before being taken to the house," said the source.
Prince Hove said after his brother died his girlfriend and her mother took over funeral arrangements and later abused his funeral policy payout.
"I collected his funeral money at Nyaradzo, but Nyaude's mother Florence ordered me to transfer all the money to her daughter's EcoCash account.
"It was $200 and from that money they only bought two dozens of bread. As if that was not enough, after the funeral, the Nyaude family took away my brother's clothes, wardrobe and fridge."
It is reported that Nyaude, with the help of her father Bydon Nyaude took advantage of the deceased's mother as they made her sign an affidavit which they later used to collect the death certificate.
"My brother was the breadwinner so now the family is suffering because his girlfriend collected the death certificate and is refusing to give it to my mother whom they made sign an affidavit whose contents are unknown," said Hove.
When Nyaude was contacted for comment, he dismissed the allegations.
"What you are saying is all lies. My daughter never took anything including the death certificate. I think the Hove family members are not being honest to each other about the estate and someone is lying about the whole issue," she said.
