Norton MP elect Tema Mliswa has said he has started aligning himself with the demands of the constituency to deliver the promises he made during the election campaigns.
"Whilst we await the official swearing in of Members of Parliament & Councillors, I have begun realigning myself with the needs of the Constituency. It is during this "no man's land" period that we need to pay special attention to operations within our Norton Town Council (NTC). It is said that a new broom sweeps clean and therefore in order for our new team of Councillors to begin on a fresh slate, it is imperative that a forensic audit be carried out to ascertain the exact position they will be beginning with," he said.
"It is in this light that I wrote to the Chairperson and Members of the Caretaker Council of NTC, highlighting the previous areas of concern and challenges that have gone unattended to as well as impressing upon them the need for such forensic audit to be urgently carried out. I look forward to the Caretaker Council affording the letter the seriousness it deserves which will pave the way for a new team of Councillors to be better prepared to execute their duties going forward which in turn will work to the benefit of the residents."
He said he truly appreciate everyone's attendance to my birthday party at Pakare Paye on Saturday.
"All wards were well represented by their respective leadership as well as the associations, business community, friends and family alike. Thank you Norton. My heart is in Norton and thus there was no better place to celebrate my coming of age. Thank you to all those too who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the occasion a success. I am impressed by the renovations undertaken by Mrs. Daisy Mtukudzi to the Hall. The facelift is has given the venue a fresh, modern look and I encourage all business owners to constantly re-invest in their respective businesses in such a manner to renew and improve standards and remain current," he said.
"I will be away from Sunday, 2nd September 2018 until the 12th September 2018 attending to some family obligations, but upon my return I will be holding a series of meetings with the various associations and stakeholders regarding development which will build up to the previously intimated "Norton All Stakeholders Strategic Meeting" where we look forward to converging all the ideas from the individual meetings to come up with a *Development BluePrint for Norton 2018-2023*. Details of the aforementioned meetings will be disseminated in due course. In my absence the swearing in of MPs will take place and I will be duly sworn in upon my return as I unfortunately cannot abandon my family commitments."
Mliswa said the country has been held in political suspense for a protracted period and as the dust settles, we look forward to working together in unison for the betterment of Norton and the Nation at large.
