A BITTER woman who suffered physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her toyboy lover decided the best way to put an end to the abuse was to dump him in court.
Ropafadzo Moyo (56) who resides in Luveve suburb has faced a tough time at the hands of her jealous boyfriend Timothy Shumba (24).
Moyo made sensational claims at the Western Commonage Court as she said her lover follows her to her drinking spots and whenever he finds her talking to a man Shumba would fume. He would top up his rants by launching into a verbal tirade and would punch her while labelling her a prostitute.
Moyo said she has decided to cut ties with him. She said she had suffered enough abuse at the hands of Shumba who is also in the habit of sending her WhatsApp messages during the night insulting her.
In her affidavit she said: "My name is Ropafadzo Moyo. I'm in love with Timothy Shumba. I pray that this court would intervene and assist me in granting me a peace order because he follows me to the drinking spots and would bash me when he finds me sitting next to a man or talking to a man.
Timothy is very protective and insecure. But I assured him that I can't cheat on him but it appears my assurances fell on deaf ears. At times he even comes to my place and would insult me while branding me a prostitute."
Sensing humiliation Timothy did not attend the court session.
The presiding magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja granted Moyo a protection order. Timothy was instructed not to visit Moyo or to communicate with her directly or indirectly.
