It never rains but pours for a Plumtree man who allegedly bashed his wife with an axe handle after accusing her of cheating on him when he was in prison three years ago.
The matter came to light at Plumtree magistrates courts yesterday where Witness Nyoni appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to August 24 for trial.
The state led by Anorld Mudekunye alleged on July 9 at around 2100hrs Nyoni arrived at his homestead drunk and found his wife Elizabeth Tshuma (32) seated in the kitchen hut with her children
Upon arrival, Nyoni started accusing his wife of having love affairs with many people by the time he was in prison in 2020.
He started to assault the complainant several times with wooden planks on her body and twice with a wooden handle of an axe on the left hand and sustained a fracture.
Nyoni threatened to kill the complainant if she reported the case to the police.
The matter was later reported to the police at Malalume base after a tipoff and investigations were carried out leading to the arrest of the accused.
Tshuma was ferried to the hospital for medical examination and the report can be produced in court as an exhibit
