A Zimbabwean woman, Esnati Thalani Gurura, was tragically shot and killed by her partner in Athens, Georgia, on Tuesday, November 5. Authorities have since arrested her partner, 27-year-old Kendall Elon Boone, who faces multiple charges, including murder.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a call at around 4:20 PM on the day of the incident, where they discovered the body of Gurura, 48, in an apartment on Royale Rd. Investigators determined that she had suffered a gunshot wound, and Boone was located and arrested a short time later in a nearby area.

Boone has been charged with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of a Crime.

In the wake of the devastating loss, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to raise funds for Gurura's body repatriation and funeral expenses. The appeal, organized by her family member, Ashley Gurura, highlights the shock and grief felt by those who knew Esnati, describing her as a vibrant and caring individual.

"Esnati was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, known for her vibrant spirit, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Her sudden departure has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her," Ashley Gurura wrote on the fundraising page.

The campaign is seeking assistance to cover the substantial costs of repatriating her body back to Zimbabwe, where she can be laid to rest surrounded by her family and friends. "A proper send-off is essential for honouring her memory and allowing her loved ones to say their final goodbyes," said Ashley.

The costs involved in transporting her remains and organizing a meaningful memorial service are significant, and the family is asking for any contribution to help bring Esnati home.

"We appreciate your generosity and support during this heartbreaking time," Ashley added. "Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference and help us give Esnati the farewell she deserves."

The case has left the community reeling as they come to terms with the loss of a loved one in such tragic circumstances. The GoFundMe appeal has already drawn an outpouring of support as people from around the world join in to help Esnati's family during this difficult time.
