A Bindura man will curse the day he decided to insult the President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constatino Chiwenga while preferring opposition leader Nelson Chamisa on leadership qualities.

Antony Sande (42) of Foothills Farm in Bindura was sentenced to one year in prison by Bindura Magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura yesterday.

Chitumbura suspended three months of the sentence.

Prosecutor Sheila Kudzai Maribha told the court that on February 27 the convict met Ratidzai Marumahopo, who was mending a tyre puncture at Foothills farm.

He pointed a finger at her and insulted Mnangagwa and Chiwenga before insulting the leaders' mothers, too.

Sande denounced the duo's leadership, saying he likes Chamisa ahead of the two.

Marumahopo subsequently filed a police report, and Sande was arrested and dragged to court.

Sande was being represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).
